Katy: Hey, did you guys find Bob? Scott: (Annoyed) For fucks sake... Donna: (Hurriedly) It's kinda a long story.... (Looks at Katy smiling from ear to ear and Aaron blushing) What's been going on here then? Aaron: (Blushing) Nothing...shall we go back to the common room? I think we kinda left Dave by himself. Scott: (In a strop) Good. It'll serve the little bastard right. Donna: Don't be horrible Scott: (Turning to look at her) So what, now you're his protector? Donna: (Blushing) No..I just don't want any trouble tonight. This is meant to be fun and so far we've upset Bob, started a war between Sophie and Bob and totally pissed off Dave. Aaron: (Smiling at Katy) I don't know..I don't think it's been all that bad. (Katy smiles at Aaron and everyone keeps walking to the common room. They go in and see Dave, Natalie and Clint sitting and talking) Katy: Hey guys, aren't Sophie and Sam back yet? Clint: No..why? Should they be? Donna: Well, they went off to look for Bob didn't they. I wonder where they are? Dave: (Smiling at Donna) I'll go help you look if you like. (Scott glares at Dave coldly and Dave ignores him) Donna: (Blushing) No it's OK. I'm sure they can find their own way back. They've been here for 5 years already. (Dave smiles sheepishly and Scott grins triumphantly at him) Katy: I don't know guys. Maybe we should go look. They've been gone a while now. Clint: Yeah, maybe. Bob's probably wondered off in a dream and has lead them on a wild goosechase though! Scott: Yeah that sounds like Bob, to be such an arsehole! Donna: (Exasperated) Will you quit with the mood thing and cheer up! (Scott smiles at Donna and catches Dave's eye) (They all leave the common room and go off to look for Bob, Sophie and Sam. Clint wanders off to look for Bob on his own sulkily.) INSET: (Sophie is looking for Bob. She passes the Library and stops, wondering if he has gone inside. She opens the door and reaches to turn on the light. She tries it several times but it does not work) Sophie: Bob? Bob! Are you in here? (She walks into the main library and tries to adjust her eyes to the dark. She hears a creak of floorboards) Sophie: Hello? Is someone there? (There is no answer. She hears footsteps from behind her and whirls around, trying to see in the dark. The footsteps stop and she relaxes. She turns back round) Sophie: ARGH!!!! (Sophie runs away from the masked figure and hides behind a bookcase. She listens for footsteps but they have stopped. She spots the other door and quickly opens it and runs out. She stops outside the door and tries to decide which way to go. She runs past the other library door and downstairs. She stops dead in her tracks when she hears the footsteps) Sophie: Who..Who's there? (Glances around in fright) Leave me alone! (She runs down the corridor to the foot of the stairs. She suddenly hears footsteps coming down the stairs. She backs away, wondering where else to go. She goes into the music corridor but stops. She opens the door again and listens. It is silent. She goes to the foot of the stairs again and goes to go up them. She feels someone breathing on her neck. She squeals) Stranger: (In a raspy voice) You shouldn't walk around School at night. It's dangerous. You might get...hurt. Sophie: Let me go! Please, don't hurt me, please! Stranger: Tonight of all nights..on Halloween. There are some strange people out there... Sophie: (Crying) Please...Don't hurt me Stranger: Say goodnight... Sophie: (Screaming) NO!!!! (The stranger slashes Sophie across the throat with a large knife. Blood pours out of her throat and she falls to the ground, moaning in pain and gurgling in her own blood. The Stranger wipes the blade and walks briskly away) BACK TO PREVIOUS SCENE.... Natalie: (Bumping into Scott) God, it's so dark. I can't see a thing! Can't we use the torch? Dave: Better not. In case it's seen. Katy: (In sarcastic annoyance) Yeah, but we kinda need to see as well you know! Dave: Yeah, well I haven't got it. Mr. Strop has. (Scott gets out the torch and gives it to Katy. He's about to say a snide comment to Dave but Donna stops him by pulling at his arm) Donna: (Whispers in his ear) Don't. Don't start. (Katy turns on the torch and they stumble about in the dark. Natalie squeals as she falls down the stairs) Aaron: Whoever that is..are you OK? Natalie: Yeah, I just fell down the last few stairs..Oh hold on.... Dave: What! Natalie: There's something here....shine the light down here a moment. Katy: Where? I can't see! Natalie: To the bottom of the stairs. (Katy shines the torch to the bottom of the stairs. In the light they can make out a leg coming out from the cupboard under the stairs) Scott: Oh my god..someones fallen down the stairs, are they alright Natalie? Is it one of us? Natalie: Hold on. Oh my god..ARGH!!!!!!!! (Everyone rushes down the stairs to see)
