After a three month break, Nerve.424 returned to the land of the live show to play at the 'Oz Bar all-day' event. Apparently it was a battle of the bands but considering Nerve.424's track record with these things the boys didn't give it much thought. Playing first on the bill, Nerve.424 had the mixed blessing of being the only band with a soundcheck but also acting as guinea pigs for the giant PA. Needless to say, there were various sound problems (monitors cutting out and distortion) all of which contributed to a fairly aggressive performance. Bring on the next gig!
The less said about this gig the better. Dave's kit was trashed by the support band and the set was cut short when their singer stumbled onto the stage during 'Tyred'. Needless to say, Nerve.424 were not happy but in the interests of avoiding further conflict no more will be said on the matter.
Playing for the first time at this venue and in support of 'The Toe', Nerve.424 finally arrived on stage at 10pm after a catalogue of problems. A rugby match in progress and the subsequent police presence in the town centre nearly saw the cancellation of the gig due to road closures. Matt's favourite phrase, 'things can always get worse...', was yet again justified when a guitar string snapped in soundcheck and pedals broke (both guitar and drum!) as the evening went on. On the positive side, Nerve.424 did have a rare chance to play a 40 minute set list which included revitalised versions of 'Never Happy' and 'In My Mind' as well as the return of 'Tyred'. This, together with a large and friendly crowd, helped outweigh the earlier complications.
