Amatuer Radio Emergency Service (ARES)
The ARES is sponsored nationally by the American Radio Relay League (ARRL),
a membership organization devoted to the interests of the amateur radio
community.
The purpose of the ARES is to provide radio communications support to public
service agencies at their request, when normal means of communication are, or
are likely to become, inadequate or inoperable.
