Three German rail technology companies- Adtranz, Siemans, and ThyssenKropp- have united their Tranrapid efforts into a joint company- Transrapid International. Germany has been researching maglev technology for quite some time. A maglev train route between Hamburg and Berlin was once scheduled, but has since been cancelled. Now the German government is looking for new alternative routes. Though Transrapid has a test facility for their maglev trains, they still have nothing commercially.
The California Maglev Project used Transrapid technology as the basis for their maglev system plan.
