"I was fortunate enough to get tickets and backstage passes for the Def Leppard show in Toronto, Canada. The show was absolutely amazing as always. After the show a group of us who got our tickets through the auction were ushered to a quiet area backstage. Mal then not only called my name, but was able to pronounce it properly. No small accomplishment for someone who is not Italian.
Anyways my friend and I were brought in first to meet Rick. I was shaking because I have been in love with the band since 1982. So as I walk into the room, there is Rick just sitting casually waiting for everyone. Mal then introduces me to Rick. I thought to myself HOLY SH--, HOLY SH--! Rick sat and talked to the group for approximatley an hour. We talked about music, his philosophy on life, having been so young and being in a band of this nature, working with Mutt, how having Lauren (his daughter) has changed his way of living, etc......
I really appreciated Rick taking time out of his busy schedule to meet us. We hoped to be able to meet the rest of the band but no amount of pleading, crying, begging, or bribing worked. Oh well next time.
All I have to say about Rick is that he is a smart, articulate, creative, sensitive, and over all great person."
