Le Cap, September 29, 2001 .
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 2, 2001 -- Last Thursday I was supposed to meet Marti in London for the kickoff of Widespread Panic's Europe 2001 Tour, followed by a big show in Paris on Saturday. Certainly all of us this side of the pond were disappointed when the tour was canceled in the wake of last month's terrorist attacks in the U. S., but what transpired here this past weekend sure helped compensate for the band's absence.
Friends from Spain, France, Germany & America joined us in our adopted city for a memorable weekend that was action-packed with tourism, fine dining & drinking, listening to music, cracked attempts at translating, smokin' & jokin'.
