barcelona ribera 2004 p3
On the Sunday afternoon following Marti's soirée we were definitely the walking wounded,
but walk we did. My bride & I had a late brunch at a sidewalk café on the Rambla Catalunya.
I whiled away the time gawking at blondes . . .
. . . all the way down to the Plaça Catalunya, where we rendezvoused with Javi at the Café Zurich.
Javi had promised us a tour of Barcelona's hip El Raval 'hood. César & Rachel joined us . . .
. . . & Rachel showed us the local graffiti.
This is her favorite.
Javi pointed out his apartment above a bakery.
We checked out the heads & head massagers in a small market on the new Rambla del Raval,
part of the rejuvenation of this notorious former red-light district & drug dealers' haven.
At the Monument to Columbus we were joined by Philos
(& Sergio, who took this photo).
After parting with Javi, Rachel & César, we found a bench by the water at Port Vell & watched the boats.
I don't know what these knuckleheads were watching.
Our next destination was Mirablau, a bar atop Mount Tibidabo that offers breathtaking views
of the city. We were joined there by Sarai & her parents, Eva & José.
View from Mirablau.
Later we all went to dinner at El Mussol, which specializes in grilled meats.
It was our last night in BCN. Tomorrow
Marti & I would be driving to the mountains.
