My name is Karyn Sloan and I am 25 years old, living in Elk Grove Village, IL. I have 11 years total of color guard experience. I started out attending Homestead High School in Ft. Wayne, IN for 3 years. My freshman year the marching band received State Runner Up and my sophomore and junior years we were State Champions. I ended up moving to Hartland, WI where I was Guard Captain my senior year and responsible for uniform selections and choreography. I graduated high school and attended Purdue University in Lafayette, IN. I was a member of the Purdue University flag corps for three years and was Captain during the 1999-2000 season.
In 2001-2002 I was the instructor for Whitewater High School's Color Guard and Winter Guard, and
in 2002-2003 I instructed at Marshall High in Marshall, WI. In the fall of 2003 I became the current director of Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, IL. I also wrote a book titled "The
Techniques of Color Guard" that was published in March 2003 by Mason Crest Publishing.
