True Colors
The best place to go for information on color guard!

My name is Karyn Sloan and I am 25 years old,  living in Elk Grove Village, IL.  I have 11 years total of color guard experience. I started out attending Homestead High School in Ft. Wayne, IN for 3 years.  My freshman year the marching band received State Runner Up and my sophomore and junior years we were State Champions.  I ended up moving to Hartland, WI where I was Guard Captain my senior year and responsible for uniform selections and choreography.  I graduated high school and attended Purdue University in Lafayette, IN.  I was a member of the Purdue University flag corps for three years and was Captain during the 1999-2000 season.

In 2001-2002 I was the instructor for Whitewater High School's Color Guard and Winter Guard, and in 2002-2003 I instructed at Marshall High in Marshall, WI. In the fall of 2003 I became the current director of Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, IL. I also wrote a book titled "The Techniques of Color Guard" that was published in March 2003 by Mason Crest Publishing. Thanks for stopping by!
