Hot! Music-2001

Youth Asylum, a six-member guy group, is one of the only "teen male" groups that is actually made up of teenagers. Their youthfulness and diverse backgrounds are celebrated on their debut album, "We Are Young Americans," on the Lifeline Entertainment Group/Qwest/Warner Bros. Record label.
Ranging in ages in age from 14-17, Derek, Donnell, Flashlight, Jason, Kevin and Leo were brought together by producer/songwriter/arranger St. Gian in the late 1990s from all over North America to form Youth Asylum. Once the guys were together, smooth harmonies with some hip-hop, R&B and rap mixed in prevailed. The boys' diverse and hopeful outlooks on life gives their pop a fresh and positive sound. They also had some of the country's hottest writers and producers, like producer David Foster and songwriter Diane Warren, working on "We Are Young Americans," making it an album full of potential hit singles.
Before releasing its first single, "Jasmin," in fall 2000, Youth Asylum completed an 11-city tour as featured artists with the Tommy Hilfiger Children's Fashion Shows.
