(from bully4you.com)

Kevin Rene Cadogan was born August 14, 1970 in Oakland California. Because of his close kin in Ireland, he maintains dual citizenship between America and Ireland. When he was very young, his parents moved his family to England where his father taught on sabbatical for two years.

When Kevin's family came back to the states they settled in Berkeley, California. It was there that Kevin remembers most of his upbringing, and there that he found a creatively nurturing environment in which to develop his talent. Kevin began learning and experimenting with the guitar at age 12. Through constant practice, Kevin's talent for writing songs and distinctive guitar parts developed quickly.

Kevin was first part of a band at age 13. One of his first shows was in Ireland, playing from the back of a fish truck as the band's sound was amplified through a giant mega phone. He remembers being hassled because of his age when his band played bars. At one particular gig Kevin was restricted inside of a square the bar owner taped to the stage.

Kevin attended Berkeley public schools through to his graduation in 1988. From there Kevin attended San Francisco State University and began working on obtaining his BCA degree, which he graduated with in 1993.

Through the years Kevin Cadogan performed with many bands in the Bay Area. In 1993 after performing a show in a San Francisco bar, Kevin was introduced through a mutual acquaintance to Stephan Jenkins. Jenkins asked Cadogan if he was interested in jamming with him some time. This invitation began the songwriting collaboration of Cadogan and Jenkins.

From Cadogan and Jenkin's co-writing efforts a set list was created, and they started performing shows in the Bay Area as Third Eye Blind. Third Eye Blind struggled to perform in bars and clubs in the Bay Area for 3 years until Cadogan and Jenkins were signed to Elektra Records as Third Eye Blind. Third Eye Blind released their self titled debut in 1997 off which they toured for over 2 years. Kevin co-wrote 10 of the 14 songs on the debut, which yielded the top 10 hits "Graduate" and "HowÕs it Going to Be" and achieved multi platinum status.

For his songwriting success Kevin was honored by the BAMMIES when he received the songwriter of the year award in 1998. Kevin has also been recognized by the BAMMIES 3 years in a row (1998, 99, and 2000) as a nominee for best guitarist. Kevin co-wrote 6 of the 13 songs on Third Eye Blind's second album,"Blue", for which he won the best songwriter award in the 2000 California Music Awards.

On January 25, 2000 Kevin Cadogan was forced out of Third Eye Blind. The other members gave no reason for what Cadogan asserts was a wrongful termination.

Since the ousting Kevin has received an enormous surge of fan support. The first week alone his web site received over 70,000 messages of concern and appreciation. The overwhelming encouragement Kevin received from his fans, and his gratitude to them, inspired him to form his new band Cousin Kevin and write and record an album of music.
