INTRODUCTION

 

(The only thing you see is a dark room with a spotlight beaming on the floor.  Suddenly you hear footsteps, and the author, appears, and stands on the spotlight.)

 

Author:       Hello.  And welcome to my first attempt at fan fiction, Across the Universe.  The star of this fiction is John Lennon, it is based on one of his favorites books Alice in Wonderland.

 

(John appears and walks to the author’s side)

 

John:         You don’t know the endless meetings we had in the casting couch for me to be the star of this fan fiction.

 

(Author puts hand over John’s mouth, John licks it, she immediately takes hand off, and cleans it on her thigh, grimacing.)

 

Author:       John, you can kiss my ass!

 

John:         Kinky, ‘ey.  I never saw that side of you on the couch.

 

Author:       Look John, if you want to be here you better behave, or I’ll give the starring role to another Beatle.

 

(When author finishes saying Beatle, Paul appears with a wide smile.)

 

Author:       (In a bored tone) Yes, Paul?

 

Paul:          I heard starring role, so here I am.

 

(John rolls his eyes.)

 

John:         Hey Macca, it’s me!  I’m the star ‘ere!  You ‘ave been the star in all the other romantic fan fictions!

 

(You can hear George and Ringo out of view protesting)

 

George and Ringo: (Out of view) Yeah! It’s always Paulie!

 

Paul:          Well, just in case, I’ll be ‘ere waiting in the wings….

 

(He leaves waving at the audience with the biggest smile he can deliver.)

 

John:         Sit down comfortably because that’s where you’ll stay!  (To author) You were saying my luv?

 

 

Author:       (Clearing throat) Returning to story. This fan fiction also has a soundtrack.

 

All four Beatles:  Ooooo!!!!!!

 

Author:       When you see a Beatle song title it italics at some point of the story, just think about it.  It will be like the background music of the scene, if you were watching it as a movie.

 

John:         You see, when you read,  your mind works as a telly or a movie screen.

 

Author:       Very good John!

 

John:         (smugly) Hey, I’m the smart Beatle…

 

(Author looks at him smiling.)

 

John:         (Looking at author wiggling both eyebrows up and down) …and the sexy Beatle.

 

Author:       Lennon! Control your hormones!

 

(John puts a face of mock hurt.)

 

Ringo:        (Out of view)  Can we get on with the story?

 

George:     (Out of view) Yeah, it’s cold and dark back ‘ere!

 

Author:       All right! All right! And now, without further ado…Across the Universe!
