IMAGINE.. LIVING HERE

LENNON'S HOUSE ON SALE AT £150,000

By Andy Russell

John Lennon's childhood home is up for sale.

The Liverpool semi is valued at £150,000 but it is likely to fetch far more.

Estate agents believe American or Japanese investors could turn it into a Beatles museum.

Lennon lived at the house - Mendips, in Menlove Avenue, Woolton - from 1945 - 1963.

He wrote She Loves You in the front room.

Lennon - shot dead in 1980, nine years after penning his classic hit Imagine - was brought up at Mendips by his aunt Mimi after his parents split up.

His first wife, Cynthia moved into the posh four bed house after the birth of son Julian [This was actually before Julian was born, after Cynthia's mother had emigrated to Canada and the Beatles were in Hamburg].

Ernest Burkey - who had lived in the house for 30 years - has died at 80.

Son Rod said, "We will probably advertise it on the internet."

[Note: George Michael was interested in buying the house at one point, but it was eventually bought, I believe, by Yoko Ono for much more than the asking price, and donated to the National Trust to take care of.]
