Superstar Sir Paul McCartney climbed from his wrecked hire car with only minor injuries after it ploughed into a tree.
Lover Heather Mills, 33, was in the passenger seat but was not hurt.
Sir Paul, 59, careered off the road after colliding with a bank clerk Ronda Brown's car in trendy US resort East Hampton, Long Island.
Ronda, 36, said the first thing Macca did was give her a hug.
She added: "It was my fault. I always dreamed of meeting him - but not like this."
