The Legend of Bliss
A band was born late one Friday night in a Springfield pub when Tony
Powell of Animal Grace fame introduced Jade Lowrey to Kathleen Ditty.
They had a few beers, discussed their varying tastes in music, and a
few weeks later the band was rehearsing. After experimenting with different
drummers and different styles, Dave Davis of Xenia was discovered and
immediately fell in the groove. It was decided on that the band could
use a lead guitarist, and Jade asked his friend Gordon if he would like
to sit in on a practice night - Gordon has not missed a practice since.
Each member of Bliss brings a different influence to the music; from
classical to jazz, from metal to punk, each style is added to bring
a unique and upbeat atmosphere to the ensemble works. The band's style
has been called "pop/post punk," but members prefer to think
of it simply as a great time - they love to see the crowd up and moving
during the shows! While Bliss enjoys playing their own take on well
known songs of the past four decades, driving originals are the highlights
of the show. Tunes such as "Power to the Ground" and "Rocket"
(co-written by Charlie Roberts) have become crowd favorites and are
sure to be Bliss standards for years to come. No member of Bliss is
without a sense of humor, and shows are full of great tunes and great
times. Kat still wants to call the band "Jade Lowrey's Armada featuring
Kat Ditty with Special Guests Dave Davis and Gordon Lane, but the name
Bliss was decided upon as a combination of the guitarists' favorite
things -- the blues and Kiss. The chosen name perfectly encompassed
the feeling every music lover gets when he hears something he likes
- which is exactly what we hope to bring to you when we see you at the
show!
