            Cargo Bed Light

I was often "left in the dark" at night trying to unload things from the cargo bed. With the tonneau cover in place, the high mounted cargo light just didn't cut it.

What I decided on, was a near-flush auxiliary light [Pep Boys] that functions with the high mounted cargo light. A flush type mount was chosen to avoid damaging the light by over size or heavy loads. The light resides protected above the raised verticals, on the forward part of the bed.  In reality, the new bed light will energize anytime the cargo light is on. A nice feature in as such the bed light can be energized with a push of the door remote control [2004 models]

I started with selecting a nice, flat, flush mounting light. This light required a large hole due to the flush fitting nature. I drilled and enlarged the hole for snug fitment.

Route the wires into the cab, via the rubber access plug (drain plug) beneath the left side sub amp. Proceed up to the top of the headliner, remove top rear plastic trim that holds the headliner. Remove exterior high mount light and route wires in the roof to the cargo light accordingly. Pick either side cargo lamp bulb and parallel splice the new bed light in as shown.
