Algebra 2 - Syllabus
Mrs. Church
2003-2004
Grades will be determined by the following factors:
- Quizzes and tests - Announced and unannounced
- Graded projects and miscellaneous assignments
- Notebook - Each student must obtain a 3-ring binder. This notebook is to contain math only! Each quarter you will obtain a notebook grade. Neatness and completeness are essential in maintaining a mathematical notebook. Every notebook must contain the following components:
- Syllabus
- Grade sheet
- Notes section
- Homework section
- Miscellaneous section
- Homework - Homework will be assigned on a regular basis. Homework will be checked at the beginning of each class. Do not attempt to complete your homework when you enter the classroom. Two points will be given if it is satisfactory. One point will be given if it is turned in yet not satisfactory (i.e., missing problems, incomplete work, sloppy, ...). You are allowed one free late homework each 9-weeks. (If you have completed all assignments, you will received bonus!!!) After homework is recorded, it is your responsibility to check and correct it as we go over it in class. This homework will serve as a good source when studying for quizzes and tests.
- ***If, for any reason, we do not meet (i.e., weather, assembly, ...), your homework will be due the next day that we meet.
If you are absent...
There is a calendar where daily activities and assignments will be recorded. You are responsible for getting the notes from a classmate and obtaining the assignments. You are given as many days as you have missed to make up the assignment(s) and turn it in for credit. Remember - it is your responsibility to show it to me. Make-up tests are to be scheduled with me upon your return. If you know you are going to be absent, please let me know. You can get your work in advance.
***If you are having difficulties with the material, you need to let me know as soon as possible.
***All graded work and homework must be done in pencil or it will not be graded!!!!!!!!!
What about behavior?
My expectations can be summed up in two words: BEHAVE APPROPRIATELY!!
- Disrespectful and vulgar language will NOT be tolerated!!
- Respect others and their belongings!!
- Food and/or drink is not allowed!!
- ALL STUDENTS ARE TO FOLLOW THE RULES STATED IN THE STUDENT HANDBOOK!!!!
Being prepared for class means...
PENCIL,
MATH NOTEBOOK,
TEXTBOOK
...everyday!!!
Something to think about:
- Even Superman tries to fly higher and faster.
- Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference.
- Every time you swim out to the rock, it gets a little closer.
I HAVE READ THIS SYLLABUS AND UNDERSTAND WHAT IT WILL TAKE TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS CLASS.
