Chi-town has some fucking awesome bands, which I am so grateful for! The local scene is great, I swear. 1) The music is great. 2) The shows are way cheaper than normal concerts, and u can go to a lot more of them. 3) The bands are totally friendly, and love to talk with fans. So what would you rather do? Pay 40 bucks for a lame ass seat in a huge arena to squint at a band onstage, that you will never get to meet, or pay 5-10 bucks for a fucking great seat in a smaller venue to watch a band that you could prolly go chill with after their show? Hmmmm, thats a toughie.... so to help you all out, I am gona break the local scene down for ya, band by band. Links to their official sites are listed at the bottom, and I may even throw in some pictures of some bands, given to me by my good friend Drew ;)

Lucky Boys Confusion

Saraphine

The Dog and Everything

"i'll take the dog and everything...." and you should too ;) These guys are soooo much fun live. The music is really upbeat with a good vibe, tons of fun to sing along to, and even better to dance to. The guys are great with fans, completely nice, just don't get upset if Augie doesn't remember your name, he is horrible with them. I even won this band's online bad spelling contest and he met me and still doesn't remember me sometimes, lol. But if you are looking to have a reeeeeeally fun nite, go check these guys out.

Swizzle Tree

Swizzle Tree is yet another talented group in the local scene. This guy's are so good, I am not even able to describe their sound to you. Just full of energy is all that comes to mind. When I hear their music it is like I can't stop myself from singing and dancing along if I tried. Not to mention the guys in the band are extra friendly, and very cool to talk to. You need to see them in action.

Fergus Falls

I have to say rite off the bat, this band is too much fun. For as young as these guys are (seniors in high school) their sound is incredibly well-polished, and impessingly well-presented. Based out of the Downer's Grove area, most of their shows are in the local suburbs, however they did get to play a show along with Swizzle Tree at the Hard Rock Cafe in Chicago this summer. After I first saw the "fergies" as they are called by some fans, I was totally amazed. Luckily these guys are also very nice, and I became pretty good friends with Vinnie. Go check out one of their shows, and talk to them- they are great guys and shitloads of fun to hang around.

Shows I have attended:5

Ophur

Ophur definitely has a much different sound than any of the other bands I have seen in the local shows. The best way to describe it I guess is unique funk rock. I dunno man, but it's good :) Try and catch these guys in a show. Nick is great to talk to and really funny, so if ya wanna get in contact with the band, he's the guy you should go to. ooh, and he has bonfires for fans sometimes :) fun.

Shows I have attended:5

Penny and the Loafers

PATL is a thriving punk/ska band in the local scene with a huge following. These guys put together some fast-paced, high energy tunes, using brass instruments to fuel thier ska sound. These guys are also amazing live, and I definitely think this is one band you don't want to miss.

Shows I have attended:1

Full Range

I saw Full Range perform for the first time and the thing that sticks out about these guys is how full of energy they are. Their stage performance is tons of fun to watch and their style is unique in the local scene. Check them out if you are looking for an energetic fun-filled night!

Shows I have attended:1

Backdrop

Backdrop is an amazing, hard-working band in the scene. They are one band you can count on having shows almost every night of the week. Their stage performance is fun and confident, and even a lil goofy :) The songs are great and have catchy melodies and beats to bounce to. Plus the guys are real friendly and fun to talk to :)

Retro Morning

Since I have started attending Benet Academy and caught my fifth RM show at a Benet soc-hop, I felt I had to add this great band to my site. Not only do all their songs have great upbeat melodies that get stuck in your head for days, but the lead singer has an amazing voice. I should know, I am in choir with him. :) And since he gave me their free demo CD, I have had it on non-stop. The lyrics are catchy, the songs as a whole are all well written, and great to listen to. So stop in and catch these guys in action, maybe I'll see you there ;)
