DISCOGRAPHY CONTINUED.

Superstar Car Wash

Superstar Car Wash was released in 1993 on Metal Blade/Warner Brothers records. The song "We Are the Normal" was co-written by John Rzeznik and Paul Westerberg. It was also the first single off the album.

A Boy Named Goo

A Boy Named Goo was released in 1995 on Metal Blade/Warner Brothers records. A few months after the release, a Los Angeles radio station started playing "Name" on the radio. That's where it took off. Soon, it was a big hit, and A Boy Named Goo reached double-platinum status. Instead of getting a big check from Metal Blade, though, the Goo Goo Dolls instead learned that they were $115,000 in debt. This started a lawsuit that would last for about 9 months.

Dizzy Up The Girl

After the lawsuit with Metal Blade and firing the GGD's first drummer, John got a bad case of writer's block, and hadn't finished a song in over a year. But, the movie City of Angels cured him. The director wanted John to write a song for the movie, so John went to see an early screening of it. He went back to his hotel room, and in one night wrote "Iris". The director loved it, and it was put in the movie. "Iris" was a huge hit, and it was the most played song on radio in 1998. Later that year, Goo Goo Dolls released Dizzy Up The Girl. Slide was the first single off it, and it was big too. Next was Black Balloon, wich got a lot of airplay also. Broadway and Dizzy also got a lot of airplay, and Dizzy Up The Girl has been their most successful album yet.
