Pets In Need-Virginia

In the time it took you to read this sentence..an average of 14 adoptable animals are being euthanized. Although this statistic is horrifying...there are things that you can do to help reduce the number of animals put to sleep in the USA and across the world. Here are just a few suggestions...

1. Support local Spay/Neuter programs, have your pet spayed or neutered and encourage your friends with pets to have their pets spayed and neutered as well.

2. Volunteer at a local shelter because the more help they have..the more animals they can help.

3. Donate used blankets, towels, bowls, leashes etc. to a local shelter or buy a bag or can of cat or dog food to donate (make sure you check what the shelter uses).

4. Go through your house...see if there is anything that you can send to Pets Alive for them to sell on ebay. It's tax deductable and helps to support the shelter. You can find their link below.

5. Place a banner to petfinder or/and 911 pets on your site (if you are a webmaster)

6. Buy stamps that remind everyone to spay and neuter their pets

7. Collect and donate funds (even pennies add up) to a shelter to help with expenses

8. If you or your parents get the Sunday paper, cut out the cat/dog food, treats, litter coupons and send them on to a shelter in your area

9. Find a TNR program in your local area and become a volunteer.

10. If you are looking for a dog or cat, please consider adopting from a shelter..you are saving a life.

11. Don't want the long term commitment of "ownership" but have space in your house...than become a "foster".

12. Do you use Purina dog or cat food? Cut out the weight circles located on the side up towards the top of the bag to:

Spay/Neuter, Inc.
P.O. Box 769
Stuarts Draft, VA 24477

13. Click these links daily:

Join Care2.com's Race for Pets! -Help Cats/Dogs receive medical assistance

14. Everyone uses a credit card, why not get one that benefits shelters..at no additional cost to you-(you get to pick the shelter!):

AnimalSafe, Inc.

15. Build a bear for the Humane Society. $1 from the sale of this golden Retriever pup stuffed animal goes to the Humane Society:

The Humane Society

16. Send a donation towards a mobile spay/neuter van. If everyone who reads this site sends just $10 they would be $10 closer to the mobile van which will reduce the number of unwanted litters substantually.
