I'm federal Angent Jack Bauer And I have Long my life

24 (Twenty Four) is an action/drama series, produced by the Fox Network for Ron Howard's Imagine Television and syndicated worldwide.

Each season covers the events of one day in the life of federal agent Jack Bauer, played by Kiefer Sutherland. The show also follows Jack's colleagues at the Counter Terrorist Unit in Los Angeles, as well as the actions of both various terrorists and the White House.

This real-time nature of 24 gives the show a strong sense of urgency, emphasized by the ticking of an on-screen digital clock appearing from time to time. Throughout every episode the action switches between different locations, following the parallel adventures of different characters all involved in the same story.

24 was created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, and premiered in 2001.

More chilling than a gun to the face, more terrifying than a holiday-season visit to the mall, is the challenge looming over Fox's 24: beat the score it set last season. (The nuclear reactor adventures of Kiefer Sutherland's Jack Bauer averaged 11.9 million viewers — the show's highest numbers yet.) When the beloved terrorism thriller returns Jan. 15 for its fifth season, legions of diehards will have been waiting a long while (approximately 237 days, but who's counting?) to see how the series can possibly pull off yet another round of sinister moles, satellite tracking devices, flagrant protocol violations, and mortally wounded thugs who whisper cryptic information before losing consciousness. The producers are all too familiar with that What next? question. ''It's not 'How many times can Jack save the world?''' says 24 co-creator Joel Surnow. ''It's 'How many times can you change the method of how he saves the world?''' Jack's dead-man walk into the sunrise in May's finale was a provocative twist, yet it only complicated the annual arduous brainstorm for the next season's premise. ''It was impossible,'' says exec producer Howard Gordon. ''We've covered so much ground that we have to work twice as hard for half as much. A lot of the characters had no place to go. We'd put Jack in this position of being dead but alive, which is conceptually interesting, but what does that mean in real time?... One thing we realized is, We can't get bigger than a nuclear bomb. Instead of bigger, we had to get smaller. Topping ourselves in terms of a general threat wasn't necessarily where the drama of 24 rested.''

Not that there'll be much rest this season. In fact, the opening minutes of the first episode are so shocking...well, we'll leave the hyperbole to the 24 folks. ''[Fans] are going to be really stressed out — even more so than before,'' says Mary Lynn Rajskub, who plays cranky systems analyst Chloe. ''Like, people should take a Valium or something.'' Teases Gordon: ''It'll scramble everyone's eggs. Whereas in the past we've had this slow-mounting tension, this year starts out with a bang and doesn't let up. Just when Jack thought he'd lost everything, he finds out there's something more to lose.''

ON JACK BAUER & 24/b>

"I've made films that I've given all I had to, that no one has seen. The bottom line is I want to work and I want someone to enjoy it. An actor would be lying if they told you there wasn't a difference between a half full and a full house and what that will do to your performance. The fact that you know that on any given night 20 million people are going to watch what you do makes you excited when you're working."

"My mind went totally blank and my body went numb. It was a very surreal moment....It was a great night. I admit I felt really cocky for about 24 hours, and then I had to go back to work" - on winning the 2001 Best Actor Golden Globe

"It's funny because I'm strongly opposed to the death penalty, and I don't believe in 'acceptable losses'. It's complicated for me to play this character, because, unlike a film, I don't know the end but I want a situation to arise within the show where he's actually confronted with a lot of the things he's done" - on Bauer's trigger-happy nature “One of the big draws of the show is here’s a guy who is ordinary in a lot of ways but, due to his profession, he’s placed in extraordinary situations that he has to make right with action and with thought. That’s what is appealing about Jack—he takes charge.”

"One thing that moved me to tears was a news clip of three firemen carrying equipment up the stairs of the World Trade Center. They had a look of determination on their faces that was one of the most honorable things I'd ever seen. That unquestioning dedication to duty is something I would love to instill in this character."

"I couldn't figure out or try to justify how insignificant I felt about making movies or television in the wake of that kind of tragedy, especially compared to the firefighters and the police officers and the schoolteachers and the people that actually make our society move. About three weeks after the terrorist attacks, somebody came up to me and said, 'Oh man, I can't wait to see 24" and I almost looked at him and said, 'How could you talk about something so stupid at such a time?' Then I realized - and this took me the rest of the day to figure out - how could you not? You start to look forward to things that will take your mind off of it. So you start again to find your place."

"Stephen Hopkins, who directed 24, has never made television before. I've never made television before. It's one of the funniest things I've ever seen.We went to the premiere, and they did a fantastic party the night it aired. And we're sitting there watching, and I was like, well, okay, that went well. That played okay. Boom! A commercial came on and Stephen was stilted for a moment. He looked over his shoulder and said [in an English accent] 'I'd like a double Vodka on the Rocks.' And I said, "I'll have what he's having"

Premise:"24" is perhaps one of the most original new dramas in a long time. This ground breaking thriller is a roller-coaster ride that unfolds in real time. From midnight to midnight -- covering a 24-hour day over the course of a season -- each episode will have its own resolution, but the clock will never stop ticking.

"24" takes place on Presidential primary day in Los Angeles, where Jack Bauer and his elite team of CTU (Counter Terrorist Unit) agents uncover a plot to assassinate Presidential nominee David Palmer - the first African-American with a serious shot at the Whitehouse. With only 24 hours to identify the killer and save Palmer's life, Jack must also deal with his strained marriage, the sudden disappearance of his troubled teenage daughter and a mole or two.

After recieving the Best Drama Award the producers of 24 talk about how the writing and acting brought them to where they are now

One of the most innovative, thrilling and acclaimed drama series on television, 24, created by Joel Surnow and Robert Cochran, will retain its unique and pioneering format in the sixth season. Each episode will cover one hour of real time, and the season’s entire story will take place in one day. Once again, viewers will be able to follow several key characters through a day that none of them will ever forget.

24’s pulsating season five opened with Jack Bauer (Kiefer Sutherland) forced out of hiding after the shocking assassination of President Palmer (Dennis Haybert), the murder of Michelle Dessler (Reiko Aylesworth) and an attack on Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard). With fabricated evidence pinning him to Palmer’s assassination, Bauer became the most wanted man in America. Meanwhile, Russian separatists led by Vladimir Bierko (Julian Sands) took an airport hostage and launched missiles at the Russian presidential motorcade, and when their master plan was quelled, America was threatened with deadly canisters of military-grade nerve gas. In one of the series’ sharpest turns, it was revealed that ineffectual President Charles Logan (Gregory Itzin), along with Christopher Henderson (Peter Weller), were responsible for the terrorism and murders of the previous hours. As the clock ticked on, unstable First Lady Martha Logan (Jean Smart) witnessed the unthinkable while Jack, teaming with feisty computer wiz Chloe O’Brian (Mary Lynn Rajskub), pursued justice for the day’s terrifying events.
