Part 1

“Jacinda!” I heard my grandpa yell. I sighed not really wanting to answer him. “Jacinda Rayanne LeMaire get your butt out of the barn and down here!” He yelled.

“Coming Grandpa!” I yelled back. I sighed and crawled out of the loft. “What is it Grandpa?” I asked standing in front of him.

“I know you’re not supposed to have to do anything after 5 but your Grandma and I have to go into town and there’s a young man coming to stay for the summer and help out. He’s going to be here around 5:30. I need you to meet him. Show him to his room and get him settled in ok?” He asked. I made a face but agreed. “Good tell him supper will be a little late tonight it’s at 7 instead of 6. We’ll be back by 5:45. We’ll see you later.” He said and kissed my forehead before turning around and walking to the truck where Grandma was waiting. Grandma waved to me and I waved back before Grandpa helped her into the truck. He got in started the truck and they were off. I sighed and walked to the house. I was sure this ‘young man’ was only going to be about 13 or 14 and just needed a small job for the summer. I walked in the house and up to my room for the summer. I had spent every summer since I was 12 at my grandparents’ farm. I was now 17 and this summer was no different although most of time it was just my grandparents and I. I looked in my mirror and ran a hand through my short brown hair.

“This summer’s gonna be just great.” I whispered to myself sarcastically. “Some little kid running around here and I have to babysit.” I suddenly heard a car door shut. “Here already? He must be early.” I asked myself. I looked down at my watch 5:35. “Ok maybe he’s not.” I looked in the mirror making sure I looked presentable before I walked down the stairs and out the front door. I found a guy that looked to be about 19 or 20 standing beside a jeep with a couple bags in front of him. He had blonde hair and blue eyes. I had to say he was pretty hot. He also looked familiar.

“Are Mr. And Mrs. LeMaire here?” He asked coming towards me as I stepped down the last step on the porch.

“No they had to run to town. I’m Scott and Gina’s granddaughter Jacinda LeMaire. It’s nice to meet you Mr…” I let my sentence trail off for him to finish it.

“Nick Carter, please call me Nick.” He answered. *Oh duh of course! Nick Carter from the Backstreet Boys* I thought recognizing him.

“Well it’s nice to meet you Nick.” I said politely shaking his hand.

“Pleasure to meet you to Jacinda.” He replied with a warm smile. *Maybe this summer will be better than I thought*

“Please call me Jaci, (pronounced like JC) only my grandparents call me Jacinda.” I smiled.

“Well ok then Jaci.” He smiled.

“Why don’t I show you to your room. Then I can kinda show you around and tell you the main ‘rules’.” I stated.

“Ok.” He agreed. I smiled and started to pick up one of his bags.

“You don’t have to do that I can get them.” He stated.

“It’s ok. If it’ll make you feel better I’ll just take this one.” I said motioning to the duffel bag in my hands. He nodded and picked up his two other bags. I walked inside and up the stairs with him following me. “Ok well this is your room.” I said opening the door across the hall from mine. It had white walls, with a queen sized bed that had a dark green bedspread spread over it, the bed frame along with the bedside table, desk, and dresser were a dark oak wood. It had a great view that overlooked the east side of the farm.

“Wow it’s beautiful.” He stated.

“Yea it is.” I replied. “The closet is right there.” I said pointing a door. “The bathroom is the next door down the hall, my room is right across the hall, my grandparents room is downstairs on the other end of the house. Um, everything else I can show to you.” I stated.

“Ok I think I got it. Just as long as I remember where your room is I should be fine. Well as long as you don’t mind me coming to you if I need anything.” He said cautiously.

“Oh I don’t mind at all. My door’s always open.” I smiled.

“Ok.” I replied.

“Well I can let you unpack now and show you around later or I can show you around now and you can unpack later. Oh by the way supper is at 6 every night except tonight and it’ll be at 6:30 or 7 tonight.” I told him.

“Ok. Well since it’s almost 6 the way it is how about you show me around the house then I’ll unpack till supper. Then you could finish showing me around and if I have anything left to unpack I’ll do it after that.” He suggested.

“Works for me.” I smiled. We walked downstairs just in time to meet my grandparents at the door.

*After supper*

“You’re grandparents are wonderful. They’re really nice.” Nick said as we stepped outside into the soft night air.

“Yea they are.” I replied.

“So how old are you Jaci if you don’t mind me asking?” He asked.

“Oh not at all. I’m 17.” I replied. He nodded. “What about you if you don’t mind me asking?”

“I’m 21.” He replied.

“Ok so what are you doing here anyways shouldn’t you be out traveling the world?” I asked.

“Ah so you do know who I am.” He stated with a smile.

“Of course. Who doesn’t?” I smiled. He laughed and nodded.

“Well to answer your question. The rest of the boys and I got the summer off. So I decided I’d get away. Spend my summer a little differently.” He answered.

“Well you definitely will get different for the summer.” I replied. He laughed and agreed. I continued showing him around. Telling him some of the things he’d do and how I spent a lot of time in the barn up in the loft.

“So now where are we going?” He asked as I led him into the cornfields. The sun had set and the full moon shone brightly on us.

“Well I spend a lot of time out here too.” I replied.

“Here? In the field?” He asked looking at me like I was crazy.

“Oh no not in the field.” I laughed. “There’s a stream that runs by the corn fields. I spend a lot of time there. It’s just a little farther.” I explained.

“Oh ok.” He replied. The corn ended and 10 feet ahead was the stream. The moon was reflecting off of it giving it a beautiful glow. “Wow.” He whispered. “It’s beautiful.”

“Yea and it’s great when you’re hot after a long days work.” I stated.

“I’m sure.” He replied with a chuckle.

*9pm*

I motioned for Nick to be quiet as I opened the door. He quietly stepped in and I shut and locked the door behind him. He grabbed my hand and carefully led me up the stairs.

“Well do you need any help unpacking?” I asked not really not wanting to part from him yet.

“Well not really.” He replied quietly. My face fell. *Wait don’t get attracted Jaci. He’s just here for the summer. You’ll probably never see him again.* I thought to my self. “But I wouldn’t mind some company.” He finished.

“Sure.” I smiled. He smiled back and opened the door turning the light on.

The two talked while Nick unpacked. Nick had finished talking but they still didn’t want to part. Nick sat down next to her on the bed and they continued talking. They finally parted ways at 12 knowing they had to be up at 5:30 and breakfast was at 6. They were quickly falling for each other.

*Oh lord this wasn’t supposed to happen. This was supposed to just be a nice summer away from everything. I wasn’t supposed to fall for anybody.* Nick thought to himself as he lay in the comfortable bed waiting for sleep to overcome him. *She’s really beautiful though and she has a great personality. The guys would love her. The way the moonshines through her hair making her look like an angel. And she’s got the deepest chocolate brown eyes…* He thought as sleep finally over took him with Jacinda in his head and his dreams.

*Oh god I wasn’t supposed to meet a guy. It was supposed to be a normal summer with Grandma and Grandpa* Jaci thought. *But I can’t help it. He’s got a great personality and he’s really cute. The way the sun shines on him makes his hair shine like gold and he’s got the most beautiful blue eyes. Oh lord I can’t help it. I’m falling for him already…* Jacinda thought as she fell asleep with thoughts of Nick.
