Chap 6

The Misfortune

The sun was setting as Lance and Jenn drove. They pull up along side a curb next to a large house filled with people. 

"Wow its packed." Lance said grabbing his towel and staring at Jenn. "What's wrong are you sick?" he said while her moving hair away from her face.

"I feel sick." Jenn said putting on her sunglasses even though she did not need them, hey it matched her swimsuit.

"We can go home...where we will have to pool all to ourselves." Lance said while leaning over and kissing Jenn

"That's what we did last night, besides I promise Caitlyn Id come to her "Fun in the Sun" party."

"Sun? The moon is coming out." Lance smiled looking at the fading sun.

"Were talking about Caitlyn here." Jenn laughed

"Yeah and Chris." Lance said while opening the car door. "ready?"

"Yeah" Jenn said stepping out of the car and on to the newly cut grass.

Chris and Caitlyn's house had a large front lawn and it took you about five minutes just to get to the door. Caitlyn says she likes her front lawn because she pulls up a chair and drinks a pina colda and watches Chris mow it.....In the yard there were pink flamingo yard ornaments lined up in a row that lead all the way up to the front door.

"Hmmm I wonder who thought to put those up." Jenn laughed

"I think both of them, they prolly thought it was their best idea yet" Lance said putting his arm around Jenn's waist. 

"Yeah probably." Jenn laughed as she rang the doorbell.

The doorbell rang to "Lets get the party started"

"What freaks" Jenn said

"We need to find new friends" Lance said as Caitlyn opened the door. Caitlyn was wearing her bathing suit and held a drink in her hand as she supported a big sombrero on her head.

"Hey guys." Caitlyn said. "Its about time."

"Sorry Jenn and I got caught up." Lance said trying to think of an excuse as Jenn kicked him knowing that Caitlyn would take it the wrong way.

"I bet you two did....did you guys like the pink flamingos, that was Chris's and I's best idea yet." Caitlyn grinned.

Jenn started to laugh and shook her head

"We know them to well." Lance said whispering in her ear.

"Come in make yourself at home, Marie, J.C., Ghadir, Joey, Ashley, Katie, Rena, Jessica, and Chris are all in the kitchen making drinks.

"There all here!" Jenn smiled referring to her friends from when she was in school.

"All except for Kady and Justin.....lord knows where they are." Caitlyn smiled knowing exactly where they were and Jenn caught on.

"Hey, Hey" Chris said coming through the kitchen door in pink bathing trunks sporting the  same exact sombrero as Caitlyn and held a drink in his hand.. "Lance how is your bladder doing buddy? he says nudging Lance.

"How's the pink hair." Lance laughed running his hand through Chris's hair.

"Hey it matches my new bathing suit." Chris said showing off his bright pink shorts.

"What is up with all this pink." Jenn said looking around the room.

"Its' sexy." Caitlyn smiled.

"Ok...." Jenn replied

"I'm really liking the hair Chris." Lance said still on the subject; he had to think of a comeback but it just wasn't coming to him.

"Well at least I can control my peeing habits." Chris smirked.

"I'm sorry Lance." Jenn said hugging him she felt guilty because Chris has already told every magazine on the face of the earth about it.

Lance hugged at Jenn's waist and kissed her neck; "Don't worry." He whispered "You already made up for it."

"Yeah same here." Chris said grabbing Caitlyn by the waist causing her sombrero to fall off. He knew Caitlyn did not feel guilty he just wanted a liable reason to touch her.

"You guys are so wrong." Jenn said kissing Lance and walking off into the kitchen. "Cait you coming?" She said looking back.

"Yup" Caitlyn said kissing Chris while struggling to get out of Chris's grasp.

Jenn and Caitlyn walk into the kitchen, greeted by their friends as Lance and Chris stand back and watch.

"Their something aren't they." Chris sighed taking a sip of his drink.

"Yeah......I'm in love." Lance smiled at his friend

"Me too my friend," Chris says patting Lance on the back. "Me too."

*10 Minutes Later*

*Chris and Caitlyn's scene*

He noticed the way she moved, the way she laughed, the way the sombrero stayed on one side of her head. He took a sip from his drink still staring at her while Lance talked to him. She looked up from talking to Jenn. In that instance their eyes connected from across the room. Caitlyn gave a smile and Chris winked. She loved the way he winked, they way he made everything funny and the way he loved her....he never said he loved her.....but he didn't need to; every time they kissed or looked into each others eyes they just knew.

"Like I was saying just tell her man...just make sure all the phones are unplugged or at least the ringers are turned off." Lance laughed reoccurring  memories in his head.

"Yeah you make it sound so easy." Chris grunted

"Because it is that easy, it will come to you, you wont even have to think about it, the words are all ready there.....and plus once you say it, the girl will do whatever you want." Lance said winking taking a bite of a tortilla chip. 

Chris stared at him

"I was just joking man jeez, do you actually think Jenn listens to me?"

"So I guess I should tell her." Chris said while folding his napkin.

" I think she already knows, but if you want to be reassured then go for it." Lance replied

"Lance I have never seen you this happy." Chris said looking at his friend. 

"Yeah well after a year of stress and heartache....the happiness comes....and trust me this is the happiest I have seen you ever too and Justin...........there must be something between Jenn, Caitlyn and Kady." Lance laughed

"Yeah I know they have stolen three/fifths of *NSYNC'S hearts." Chris said "And I'm happy Caitlyn stole mine."

"Same with Jenn" Lance said while getting up. "Now if you'll excuse me I v been away from Jenn to long."

Chris watched Lance walk up behind Jenn and whisper in her ear, the three words that Chris chokes on every time he tries to tell Caitlyn. It is not like he didn't love her, he loved her more then any words could express.....its just that Caitlyn was special to him and he did not want anything he did or say to take her away. Caitlyn eyes Chris from across the room, she noticed the way he was staring at Lance and Jenn, so she walked over and sat next to him.

"What's up?" She said grabbing his hand

"Nothing....just thinking." Chris said while looking at his cup.

"About what?"

"You" Chris sighed

"Really you think about me." Caitlyn joked

"Yeah all the time."

Caitlyn laughs

"Caitlyn" Chris says while staring into her eyes

"Yes" she replies knowing Chris was going to say something that was hard for him....but easy at the same time.

"I love you." Chris said while kissing her.

"I love you too." She said kissing him back.

Jenn looked across the kitchen and saw Chris and Caitlyn kissing she moved her neck so Lance could stop kissing it and she replied: "Awwwww how cute."

Lance looks up and smiled " I guess he finally told her."

"Told her what?" Jenn wondered

"That he loves her."

* 5 Minutes Later *

"Where is everyone." Justin said coming through the door with bags of food.

"We brought food" Kady yelled

Everyone scattered out to grab the bags from Justin's hand and went back into the kitchen

"Thanks Justin and Kady I was starving." Joey said as he walked into the kitchen and got some plates.

"Well that is the kind of respect we get." Justin said still standing at the front door.

"Guess so." Kady laughed kissing him

"Come on you guys hurry up we are gonna go swimming." Caitlyn said throwing her sombrero at them.

"Ok" Justin says as he takes off his shirt and throws it down on the floor and runs.

"Whoa that looked like a scene from Baywatch." Jenn laughed.

"Except for the women with their tight bathing suits and big ya know" J.C. winks as Marie hits him in the chest.

"Hey who is he calling small?" Jenn said

"Defiantly, not me." Caitlyn said as Chris picked her up and threw her over his back.

"He wasn't talking to you Jenn, cause otherwise I would have to hurt him." Lance said picking Jenn up.

"I wasn't ............" J.C. said trying to get out of the mess he was into

"CANNON BALL" Chris said while jumping off the diving board with Caitlyn in his arms.

"AHHHHHHH" Caitlyn screamed

"PUT ME DOWN LANCE PUT ME DOWN" Jenn said as Lance was about to jump in the pull with her

"Ok" he said as he dropped her in the pool and he jumped in as well.

Everyone was in the pool splashing around and having fun.....when the familiar loud bangs where heard *BANG....BANG....BANG...BANG...*

"NOOOOOOOOO" Caitlyn screamed

As the man jumped on the diving board and jumped into the water

"NOOOOOO" they all screamed as water rushed out of the pool as he hit they water and everyone lost their breath.

"RORY" Jessica squealed as she swam over to where he just made his gigantic splash

"Hey howdy hey I'm here" Rory said waving to everyone who has now just gotten out of the pool.

"I'm going to go call the pool man." Chris said picking up the phone.

"I think the girls need to have some talk time so why don't the guys go inside and do something ok." Caitlyn said trying to thin of a way of not talking to Rory.

"Are you leaving me with him." Lance said hugging Jenn 

"Yes ...besides I have stuff to talk about just between the girls"

"Lance.....hey buddy ol pal....we have some matters to discuss ....and Justin follow me ....we have some hair issues we need to go over......and we need to talk to Chris while were at it....oh joy this will be so much fun"

The guys walk into the house Rory all smiles the rest have looks mixed of confusion and shear fright.

"Ok girls lets sit around the table" Kady said trying to get everyone organized like she always did"

"Jenn you and Lance look so cute together." Ghadir said

"I have to admit I never thought you would ever get lance with all that obsessing you did." Rena laughed

"Yeah *rolls eyes* same here." Jenn laughed

"And Caitlyn and Chris that is a whole other story." Ashley laughed

"What about Kady and Justin." Marie said

"Or Marie and JC" Katie replied

"What about me and Rory?" Jessica smiled

"Ok" Jenn said as all of them but Jessica rolled their eyes.

Out on the front lawn the guys where singing songs with Rory.....they found out Rory was a cool guy when he was wearing a bag over his head and he was drunk. Out lurking in the shadows was a Frankie....he saw Lance laughing and taking sips of his beer and it filled him with rage how could lance be so happy lance took away the love of his life and now he is going to pay. Frankie gripped the necklace that he gave Jenn and hoped the Fence into some bushes as he over heard the conversation that would change lives forever.

"Jenn what is wrong you don't look so good." Kady said while sitting in her chair.

"Yeah, you look like your about to throw up." Marie said

"I think it is all that action she is getting it is wearing her out." Caitlyn laughed

"Guys that is what I need to talk about....." Jenn said looking down on at the floor.

"What?" Ghadir and Ashley said.

"I have been throwing up...and not feeling good for the past two days now....and.."

"Jenn do you have an STD?...I knew lance has something wrong with him." Jessica said

Jenn rolled her eyes while Caitlyn smacked Jessica on the back of her head

"No......I think......I think I might be pregnant."

Everyone sits in a state of shock

"WHAT?" Caitlyn yelled

"Jenn your too young it cant happen to you." Ashley said trying to disbelieve what Jenn just said

"Wait....Jenn do you know for sure?" Kady said

"No....." Jenn sighed taking a sip of her drink

"That better not have alcohol in it." Jessica said snatching it away from Jenn

"Jess I'm not even legal to drink." Jenn said 

"Here take this" Kady said handing Jenn a pregnancy test..."I keep it ya know for Justin and me but I think you need it more then I do." Kady said with disappointment in her voice

"Now?" Jenn said

"Now" Caitlyn said and walked her to the bathroom

*10 minutes later *

Jenn walked out of the bathroom and out to the patio.....where Frankie was watching from the bushes.

"SO?" they all said eager to know the answer that would change now to forever.

"I cant read it." Jenn said handing it to Kady

Caitlyn snatches it and grabs the box to detect what it is. "Your good" she says as she shows it to everyone around her.

Everyone runs up and hugs Jenn and Jenn sighs a sigh of relief

"I cant believe it.........boy have I got a story now." Frankie says as he hops the fence to retreat to his car.
