CHAP 9
“And then blah…blah…blah….blah…”
That is all Lance heard from Laura he wasn’t paying attention-he never was- besides he had his mind on other things –more important things-Jenn- he wondered how she was doing and wished he was with her right now-but back to reality-he wasn’t- he was stuck at a restaurant with giggling fans on his left and a girl he dated for two years and had been friends with for 10 and yet he felt nothing- and knew nothing about her- he connected more with Jenn in a day then he had ever connected with Laura in 10 years.
“Lance…. hello…Lance” Laura said waving her hand in front of his now hazel eyes.
“What…oh sorry now what did you say.” Lance said taking a sip of his drink.
“Lance you have not listened to a word I said what is wrong with you…Lance this is why I brought you here….. I just don’t feel the connection we used to have…you have not called me in 5 months.” Laura started but Lance’s cell phone interrupted her.
“Hold that thought…hello?” Lance answers the phone
“It’s not like you were listening” Laura mumbled under her breath.
“What is wrong…where are you…. I’m on my way…no I’m coming…don’t worry it will be alright…”Lance said panicking.
“Was that Jenn” Laura said already knowing the answer.
“Look I got to go” Lance said getting up out of his chair and putting a 10 dollar bill on the table.
“When don’t you” Laura mumbled again
“Bye Laura.” Lance said as he ran out of the restaurant.
“Bye Lance.”’ Laura said knowing that would be her last time she would see him in person again…..she mumbled: “Forever.”
Lance ran into his 4-runner and sped down the street. “I can’t believe him” lance said “Didn’t today mean anything to him?” He pulled up to a park and ran out panicking looking around for the figure he loved so much…. calling her name…screaming her name…nothing…he looked to his left and then his right…..then he noticed a body lying on the ground-no motion- It was Jenn- he calls her name again and hears her moan
“Oh my god look at you…why did he do this to you…why…it is all my fault.” Lance says looking at Jenn’s bruised body and wiping some of the blood from her face.
“Lance I’m sorry” Jenn said trying to get herself up off the ground.
“Shhhh come on,” Lance says as he picks her up and brings her to his car.
“Lance…….” Jenn tries to talk but the words don’t come out.
Lance puts Jenn in the passenger side and buckles her in and then kisses her: “Where going home.”
Lance gets in the drivers seat and pulls out of the park while dialing numbers to call Caitlyn.
“Hello.” Caitlyn picks up the phone wondering who is calling her.
“Why did you let Jenn out of your sight?” Lance yells into the receiver.
“What? I was never with her.” Caitlyn’s says scared that Lance just yelled at her.
“WHAT?”
“She just told you I was so you would go and not worry.” Caitlyn said replying back.
“Damnit” Lance says regretting that he went out with Laura.
“Why?” Caitlyn said
“Frankie got to her” Lance sighed
“Oh my god is she ok?”
“Yeah some busies…..I think she has a lot more but I don’t know I will check when we get home”
“Are you gonna call the police?”
“No the press would have a field day”
“Yeah fame it is good….”
“And it is bad” Lance added on to what he knew Caitlyn would say.
“Well I’ll come by in the morning
“Ok”
“Crap”
“What?” Lance said
“That is Jenn’s Birthday”
“Oh shit now Frankie is going to die” Lance said knowing that Frankie has just ruined Jenn’s day.
“Well it is all set…”
“Good”
“Lance” Caitlyn said
“Yes?”
“Be with her ok she is confused…and remember when you used to taunt her about who she likes?
“Yeah and I still do” Lance laughs
“Well maybe the answer isn’t as far to hard as you think.” Caitlyn replies.
“Oh” Lance says with a smile on his face…he knew it all along.
“Bye I got to wake up early” Caitlyn says
“Bye”
Lance arrived at his house and opened the passenger side and carried Jenn into the house and brought her up to his bedroom and laid her down on his bed.
“You have got to get cleaned up…you can go in my shower and I’ll go get your clothes…. can you get up?” Lance said rushing around his room
“Yeah…I’m fine….. it’s just bruises and dirt that’s all.
*10 Minutes Later *
“Feel better?” Lance asked Jenn as she came out of the shower.
“Yeah still a little sore but ok.” Jenn said throwing the towel for her hair on the couch.
“Come here” Lance says as he pats the bed “ I have something that will stop the soreness.
“Ok…What do you have?” Jenn said unsure of what Lance was thinking
“Just some cold cream.”
“Ok” Jenn says taking the cold cream from him
“No” Lance says as he takes the cold cream back: “ Lay down.”
“Umm…ok…what are you doing?” Jenn says as she feels Lance tugging at her shirt.
“Lifting up your shirt…those are where most of your bruises are.” Lance said
“Lance” Jenn said not sure of what to say
“It’s ok come on you have a bra on and it is nothing I have not seen before.” Lance said grinning.
Jenn glared at him
“It will make you feel better.” Lance said trying to coax Jenn
“Oh alright….you know your limits
*Jenn takes off her shirt *
“He hit you really bad” Lance said noticing the bruises running up Jenn’s spine and lower back.
“More like kick” Jenn mumbled
“How did he get to you?” Lance wondered
“He practically knocked down the door grabbed me threw me in his car took me to the park and started kicking me and hitting me calling me names and said it was payback to you.” Jenn said putting her face into a pillow.
“Jenn I’m sorry” Lance said as he laid his head on Jenn’s back
“You messed him up pretty good though” Jenn laughed
“Yeah that s the first time I ever hurt someone….except for now …with you I have hurt you Jenn I put you in danger nothing can take that back I’m sorry.” Lance said as Jenn noticed the tears glistening in his eyes as she sat up.
“Don’t be sorry Lance…” Jenn was caught in mid-sentence as Lance kissed her she pushed him off and replied back” “Whoa there cowboy stop right there”
“But don’t you feel it” Lance says as he kisses Jenn again
“Lance…” Jenn says not knowing what else to say
“Come on Jenn I know you do.” Lance says looking in Jenn’s watery eyes
“Lance I’m scared I don’t……”
“Shhhh…just let it go…” Lance says as Jenn grabs him and kisses him
“See Jenn I knew you felt it.”
*Make-out session *
Lance takes his shirt off and Jenn gets a little uneasy…this is what she has always wanted…….why did she feel so lonely?
Jenn coughs to break the kissing.
“What I’m just getting comfortable don’t worry.” Lance says knowing Jenn’s cough was not an accident.
“I’m not” Jenn replied
* More Making-out *
Jenn looks at Lance as he starts to pull off his pants.
“Can we go to sleep?” Jenn said trying to make Lance stop what he was doing
“Ok……but you have to sleep here with me.” Lance said
“If I must”
Jenn laid her head on Lance’s chest and they sat in silence. Jenn felt so bad for what she just did….but she did not feel it was the right time…and plus she was still with Frankie.
Lance thought to himself that this was a better time then any and maybe this time he can say this with no distractions
“Jenn” Lance says while kissing her
“Yeah” Jenn says looking up at Lance
“I…love…” Lance started but the ringing of the phone interrupted him
“Damnit every time” Lance says as he hits his head on the backboard of his bed
“Ok I’ll guess I’ll get it..” Jenn said “Hello….hey ..yeah I’m fine….what?….what? ahhhh oh my god I’m so happy for you guys..ahhhhh how did he……go figure….awwwww that is so sweet,…yeah…he is right here so I’ll tell him …..shut up….*laughs*…..bye
“So?” Lance says
“Oh that was Kady”
“Yeah”
“Her and Justin are engaged …her propped to her while they were watching Friends because that was the first episode they watched when he knew he was in love with her”
“That’s great!”
“Yeah”
“Hey”
Hey what?” Jenn said
“HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!”
“Oh yeah …it is that late”
“Yeah”
“Well sleep time.”
“Ok goodnight Jenn” Lance said while holding her close
“Night Lance” Jenn said as tears flooded her eyes.
