Jeff Olivers list of favourite drummers

Hi I thought you would like to have my list of drummers so here they are:

John Bonham- Probably the best known of all drummers. His drum solo moby dick is still a classic. Known for his fast foot and amazing hand skills, Bonham is still an absolute legend 24 years after his death.

Ian Paice- Deep Purple. Left handed drummer from the legend 60`s band. Known for his amazing speed. The Made In Japan album is still a classic. The album Burn is the altimate drummers album and I listen to it often.

Phil Rudd- ACDC. In my opinion the most underrated drummer ever. The backbone of one of the best bands in the world today. He is rock solid. Not flashy but between 84 & 95 when the band was without him, they were no where near as good.

Virgil Donati- Arguably the best drummer Australia has produced. Probably best known for his work with Southern Sons, The drum sound on the first Southern Sons album needs to be heard. However his clinics and videos are first class.

Phil Collins- Bonham and Paice brought the drums to the front of the stage. However Phil Collins brought drums to the front of the mix. His drum fill on In The Air Tonight is proof.

Louis Belson- Top jazz drummer from the 40`s & 50`s who was the first to bring double bass drumming up to an awesome standard.

Chad Smith- Red Hot Chilli Peppeers. One of the best drummers going around today. Both live in the studio. Has one of the best snare sounds ever.(probably because he uses the amazing brady snare) With Flea formed one of the best ryhthm sections ever.

David Jones- Melbourne legend. Put David in because he is one of the best teachers I`ve ever had. I owe him so much because he taught me alot in a short period of time.

Neil Pert- Rush. My favorite drummer for a long time. His work with Rush was not very commercial but as a 3 piece the band was world class. Has a azomg accoustic kit and electronic set up. Also an excellent producer.

Ringo Star- Beatles. Say no more. Every drummer from the 60`s & 70`s wanted to be like Ringo.

Lars Urlich- Metalica. My favorite two Metalica albums are Master Of Puppets & Justice For All. The drumming on these two albums are incredible. Every drummer should listen to these.

Rick Allen- Def lepard. Put Rick in for his amazing courage. After loosing an arm in a band car accident in 1983, came back with a modified drum kit. Sensational!!!

Regards, Jeff Oliver
