Jeff Oliver - The Beat Goes On...

Considering the combined talent and experience of the dynamic trio PEARL COAST, with Peter DEAN, Rod COXELL (both former members of 'The JETS'.) and Jeff OLIVER (from 'CHAIN' and IAN KENNY BAND fame) there's no doubt PEARL COAST will be going places. They have already built a huge following, and have been the support band for many International & Aussie Acts, such as the legendary JIMMY BARNES and the 'The ZEP BOYS'. It may only be a matter of time before they hit the international big time themselves.

It’s a tough crowd where I come from, as far as the pub scene goes. The Patrons would rather be at the bar knocking back beers, than working up a sweat on the dance floor. Yet when I went to see PEARL COAST play at the local watering hole, in no time at all they had the crowd pumped and raging out on the dance floor. The end of the first set saw the place packed, with a crowded dance-floor and growing cue of people outside, just waiting to get in on the action. The place was rockin', with the band cranking out a range of hit music, from hard-hitting rock'n'roll, to good old Rhythm and Blues, with their unique style and razor-sharp sound showcasing the trio's incredible talent. An unbelievable, unaccompanied drum solo from Jeff OLIVER provided the perfect finish to a perfect night. At the end of the final set, the crowds’ roar for 'more' was deafening, but instead of the bands encore appeasing their audience, the calls for more continued long after the gig was over.

Jeff OLIVERS' drum solos are legendary on the Western Australian pub scene, and he never fails to draw the crowd into the moment. I first saw Jeff OLIVER perform when he was starting out with the POOR BOYS, and I have been a loyal fan ever since.

Jeff OLIVER has an amazing laugh that is completely infectious, if not addictive, and the plan for a formal interview with Jeff OLIVER quickly disintegrated into a more casual affair, conversing over a couple of beers, which progressed into an relaxing afternoon filled with good conversation, as well as sharing some great laughs. Jeff OLIVER has a huge collection of anecdotes about life on the road, most of which are outright hilarious. String them all together and you would probably have the makings of a great flick!

Jeff OLIVER picked up his first set of drumsticks at the age of twelve, and he's been playing in bands ever since. Jeff is very serious about his music, and he comes across as a genuinely nice guy, with a charismatic personality, making him totally likeable. Many of the industries 'famous' and 'not-so-famous' has fallen victim to becoming 'legends in their own mind', but Jeff OLIVER has managed to keep his feet firmly planted on the ground, despite his fairly rapid rise to fame.

Jeff OLIVER is a bona fide drumming God, music genius, and legend in the making... Despite the fact that drummers are the backbone of all good bands, they often get overlooked. It seems the better a drummer gets, the more the drum kit grows, so perhaps this is why the bloke behind the kit slowly disappears into obscurity as well. Jeff OLIVERS' talent has been recognised by the likes of Ian KENNY, Matt TAYLOR, Jon RYDER and Peter DEAN. (The list goes on!) All are music geniuses in their own right, and they 'really do' know their stuff! Yet Jeff OLIVERS' talent seems to have undeservingly been neglected by the industries 'mainstream'. It would be a good thing for music lovers world-wide if Jeff OLIVERS' talent could finally be recognised and rewarded with the star status he so richly deserves.
