EVEREST/SARACEN/TRILOGY:

EVEREST, SARACEN, and TRILOGY featured some of Perths' premier players including JOHN MEYER (guitar), DENNIS JAMES (guitar), DENNY BARNES (guitar), JAMIE PAGE (guitar), ASHLEY COOK (drums), and DAVE LITTLE (drums).

The three bands EVEREST, SARACEN, and TRILOGY are often grouped together, as the band membership was "inbred", linking to each other. JON RYDER (bass/vocals/keys) was the common factor in all three bands. The bands rose out of the ashes from FATTY LUMPKIN over a period of ten or so years. They dominated the hard rock/metal scene during this time, and earnt a reputation as being some of Perths best 'hard rock' acts. They also dominated the RAFFLES HOTEL over the years.

SARACEN and TRILOGY released many great albums, but never got the credit they deserved, especially when considering it was all three of these bands that inspired many of the players that are now seen playing metal/hard rock. JAMIE and JOHN MEYER still teach, and inspire new kids coming into the scene. JON RYDER is still performing in bands today, such as IAN KENNY BAND, and VDELLI. JAMIE MEYER took the TRILOGY album to the U.K. trying to attract interest around the various traps, but nobody took it on. This is a crying shame as TRILOGY produced great stuff, and the boys really did deserve a crack at the big time...

SARACEN:

John Meyer (guitar, vocals); Pete Thompson (drums); Jon Ryder (bass, synth) Classic-style heavy metal band formed in Perth in 1980. Saracen was iced in 1983 when Meyer split to tour and record with Rose Tattoo and during this period Thompson and Ryder formed Trilogy with ex-Black Alice guitarist Jamie Page. Saracen reformed in 1986, released a long-awaited self-titled album and then disappeared once more. Discography: Saracen (self release) 1987 Related entries: Black Alice, Rose Tattoo, Trilogy

TRILOGY:

Jamie Page (guitar); Jon Ryder (vocals, bass, keys); Peter Thompson (guitar) Perth progressive metal trio, formed out of the remains of Saracen by Ryder and Thompson with ex-Black Alice guitarist Page. Like Black Alice, Trilogy was better known outside of Australia, with Europe lending a particularly keen ear to their Rush-like sound. Page left after the first album to be replaced by Peter Jenkins; this line-up issued one more album before switching back to the name Saracen with the return of guitarist John Meyer from his three-year tenure with Rose Tattoo. The second album was only available in France. Discography: Life on Earth (Bonsai) 1985 Next in Line (Axe Killer) 1986 Related entries: Black Alice, Black Steel, Saracen
