O-Town Article by Charley
O-Town is five guys who were formed on the hit US TV show Making the Band. The members of the band are: Erik-Michael Estrada, Ashley Angel, Trevor Penick, Jacob Underwood and Dan Miller, who replaced original band member, Ikaika Kahoano. Critics said that O-Town would not make it in the music industry because they were manufactured. Boy, were they wrong! Since the first season of Making the Band, O-Town has become one of the top boy bands in America. In two years, the band has had four hit singles, at least five sell-out tours, and have millions of fans world-wide. Their debut album O-Town went platinum and gold several times in many different countries. On top of this, the boys have filmed two more seasons of Making the Band, and are currently recording their second album, O2, which they have had a large part in writing, and is scheduled for release in November. Each song has a personal meaning to the members of the group and shows the group's growth and change from the first album. They say:
“We have matured as a group, and so the music matured with us”.
Not only this, but they have also lasted much longer than rival American manufactured all-girl group, Eden’s Crush, who only released a few songs, and didn’t even bother to come to Britain. They’ve also beaten rival British manufactured groups, Liberty X and Hear’say by not losing a member after already releasing two albums, or having to change their name! I think it’s safe to say, O-Town are here to stay, whether we like it or not!
