It all began in december 2003 with a desire to create a band that will not follow the traditional ways of writing music. After leaving the group My Cousin Dave, Josef, lead rhythm guitarist of S-SD, had such a goal. Using local resources and with the help of his friends from Fallout Theory, he met Adam, lead guitarist of S-SD, in January 2004. These two guitarists had different musical backgrounds and influences; one following the ways of the "metal" and the other, the ways of alternative rock. People might think that two completely different styles would create crap you'd find in your local dump. However, this resulted in an extraordinary fusion of musical styles and technique into what one might call "one size fits all" music.
With both guitarists adopting this notion, they started their search for the other members. Through a friend, Adam discovered Tanya, drummer of S-SD. After her audition, Adam and Josef took her in right away. She had a style that was unique and the potential to do more. Moreover, with the welcoming of Tanya into the group, she brought a new style to the table: punk/ska. It was odd at first but it sounded so sweet.
At this point, the three of them started writing out originals and auditioning singers and bassists. That was the difficult part for several reasons. First, and the main reason, bassists are scarce. Second, they needed to find a singer who was able to, not only able to sing well, but to represent the band in every way. The band's emotions were expressed through the singers words. The band waited a month until they found a singer who was able to fill in the spot. At a small local show, Josef and David performed with members of Fallout Theory, and since Adam and Tanya were there, they decided to give David, singer of S-SD, a preliminary audition. With success, he was welcomed into the band. Now, everything was rolling smoothly.
Finally, after months of borrowing bassists, Josef gets in touch with the final member of SSD: Gabriel, bassist to SSD. After 2 auditions, the band welcomed him with open arms and giving the group a new character to its fusion.
In the group's foetal stages, a name was in need. Several suggestions like "Anomaly", "Mr. Squishy","This Member and That One" and "Jenna and the Jamiesons", were floating around.   However, they finally found one that suits them perfectly: SEVEN SECOND DELAY.
