1992 –
August: AJ McLean (14) and Howie Dorough (19) audition for a group that had been advertised in the Orlando Sentinel. AJ and his mother, Denise, move to Orlando to be closer to the group’s headquarters.
October: Nick Carter (12) auditions for the group in spite of his tender age and gets the job, turning down the Mickey Mouse Club. Nick brings along his mother, Jane, and twin sisters, Sierra and Dawn (11), to the audition. The girls immediately become friends with Alima, who is there with Howie. Two other guys, Sam Licata and Charles Edwards, audition and get the part.
1993 –
March: Sam Licata leaves for personal reasons, while Charles Edwards leaves for vocal reasons. Lou Phearlman gets advice to let a young man, Kevin Richardson, who is working at Disney World at that moment, to audition for the group. Kevin comes and joins the group after a great audition. The search begins for a fifth and final member for the group.
April 10: Kevin suggests that they let his younger cousin audition for the group. Lou takes this into consideration.
April 19: Kevin is allowed to call his younger cousin and that night around 9 p.m., Kevin’s younger cousin, Brian Littrell (18), auditions over the phone for Lou.
April 20: Around 11 a.m., Kevin and the rest of the guys, plus Lou, go to the airport to meet Brian and surprisingly his (Kevin's) sister, Heaven Leigh, who is coming to live with her older brother. She comes transfers to Ruskin (the school where Sierra and Dawn are attending). As soon as Sierra sees Brian, she knows that there is something about this guy. Since Brian has no where to stay, Jane Carter allows him to stay with them until they can find somewhere for him to stay. Nick immediately becomes friends with Brian and this gives Sierra an opportunity “to get to know Brian better”. They quickly become friends.
May 8: The Boys perform their first big concert at Sea World, Orlando to a crowd of more than 3,000 teenagers. Much to the amazement of the group, the audience went wild.
Summer: The Boys perform in a variety of venues from shopping malls to a high-profile gala AIDS charity hosted by Whitney Houston in Fort Lauderdale.
June: Alima, Howie's little sister, moves into an apartment with him, Kevin, and Heaven after graduating high school.
August: Brian moves into a five-bedroom apartment with Alima, Howie, Heaven, and Kevin, but continues to come to Nick’s house to do home schooling with Nick since the boys are doing so much with the group and Brian is only a year away from graduating.
Fall: The boys get a change in management (Johnny and Donna Wright), and begin a tour of schools across the United States. Boys begin to build a great fan base with each stop. In order to keep Heaven (who Kevin brings along) and Alima (who Howie brings along)company, Jane Carter brings along Sierra and Dawn. All four girls still do schooling while on tour with the boys, since Nick, AJ, and Brian are all still in school.
December 7: Boys pack to go to New York City to audition for Mercury Records. Again, Sierra, Dawn, Alima, and Heaven go along with the boys.
December 8: Boys audition for Mercury Records, and are chosen to be put on the label.
December 9: Boys get called back to Mercury because the deal falls through at the last minute.
1994 –
February 14: Boys get a special valentine gift as record executives come to see their performance at a show and get the deal, and told that they would record their first single later that year. The boys celebrate that night with big party for three occasions: 1) to celebrate the birthday of Sierra and Dawn Carter (age 12); and 2) the guys being signed to their label.
May: Brian goes back to Lexington to graduate with his class at Tates Creek High School. Sierra, Dawn, Alima, and Heaven, all accompany the boys to be there for Brian’s graduation.
June 15: The Boys find out that they must fly to Sweden to record their first single, and a couple of other songs.
June 26 to July 15:
*The Boys fly to Sweden to record their first single, “We’ve Got It Goin’ On” and two other songs with musician, Denniz PoP. Alima, Dawn, Sierra, and Heaven go along with them.
*Sierra gets her heart broken while in Sweden from her new boyfriend that could not handle her leaving all the time. Brian, being her friend, helps her through the whole ordeal.
*While skiing with the rest of the Boys and the girls, Dawn falls down and hurts her ankle. AJ offers to carry her back, since he is cold and the others still want to ski. AJ takes her to the hospital with Sierra and Brian, they find out that she sprained her ankle and she finds comfort in AJ after having to get a shot. AJ has had a crush on her since the beginning, but never told Dawn, and Dawn has also had a crush on AJ, and the two begin to be friendlier.
December 20: The Boys all are invited to the Carter residence for a Christmas party. During this, two occasions happen:
1) AJ and Dawn are playing pool in the basement and during this, they share their first real kiss after AJ finally asks her out.
2) Brian and Sierra are on the beach taking a walk as Brian decides to finally ask her out. Sierra says yes and they share their first kiss.
December 31: The Boys celebrate the new years with a party at Brian, Howie, Heaven, Alima, and Kevin’s apartment. Dawn and Sierra are allowed to go since Kevin will be there and Nick is going to be there. At the party, Nick gets shocked out of his life twice in one night.
*The first time as he goes into the kitchen to get a new drink, he finds AJ and Dawn making out on top of the kitchen table. This pisses Nick off and he goes looking for Sierra.
*The second shock is when he finds Sierra on the balcony making out with Brian, who is 6 years older than she is. Nick actually tries to hit Brian, but is stopped by Heaven, who is standing in the kitchen with the rest of the Boys.
*Dawn and Sierra are allowed to stay at the party; even though, Nick is not very happy with this.
1995 -
January: Dawn and Sierra are grounded for 2 weeks for disobeying their parents. Dawn and AJ’s relationship is viewed as a good one by Nick, but he refuses to accept Brian and Sierra’s relationship.
July: A promotional tour is planned for the U.S.A., if the single is liked by the American audience.
*“We’ve Got It Goin’ On” video is filmed in Orlando. The girls are allowed to be in the video, since only one actress/dancer, Aphrodesia Rosemary McCarthy, could be found in time. After the video, Aphrodesia remains with the group for a while as back-up dancer. During this, Nick finally sees that Brian and Sierra's relationship isn't that bad and begins to accept it.
August: “We’ve Got It Goin’ On” is released as a single in the U.S.A. MTV and the press are disinterested, and it only climbs to the 69th spot on the Billboard charts. Tour plans are cancelled.
October 3: “We’ve Got It Goin’ On” was released in Europe and the Boys find out that it climbed to the top ten in Germany, earning them their first gold disc. The Boys celebrate with a party for the gold disc and to celebrate Kevin’s 24th Birthday.
November-December: The Boys begin touring the U.K. with the Smash Hits Roadshow, winning over audiences and critics. But the single still doesn’t make the top 40 chart.
Winter: The Boys continue to tour Europe (especially Germany). Support for the group reaches a frenzied level in Germany.
1996 –
January: "Get Down" is released in Europe and hits number 14 on the U.K. charts, earning them a spot on the English music show Top of the Pops. The Boys return to Orlando to record their first album and to do the video for “Get Down”.
February 14: Dawn and Sierra’s birthday party and completion of album party.
February 15:
1) Brian and Sierra’s midnight rendezvous date (the first time)
*Where: small cabin that Kevin had gotten when he moved to Orlando
2) AJ and Dawn’s rendezvous date (the first time)
*Where: AJ’s apartment that he shared with his mom, who was gone for the weekend to spend time with her parents, who live in West Palm Beach.
Summer: With a new album in the can, they immediately begin touring the Far East and Canada.
August 22: "We've Got it Going On" is re-released in the U.K. and makes it to number 3 on the charts. Boys celebrate both this news and Howie’s birthday (23) with a party.
September: The album is an immediate hit in over a dozen countries, earning them their first platinum album (500,000 CDs sold) in Germany. The album peaks at number 12 in the U.K.
October: The Boys do a world wind tour of South East Asia and Australia.
October 15: While on tour in Australia, Sierra gets sick and is hospitalized. During the hospital stay, she finds out that she is 4 months pregnant and must tell Brian and Nick. Brian supports her and, of course, Nick becomes more pissed at her that he refuses to speak with her.
October 18: Sierra’s parents throw her out of the house over the phone, resulting in her to having to go and live with Brian who was sharing her an apartment with Howie, Alima, Heaven, and Kevin. Dawn moves out of the house and moves in with AJ and Denise.
November: They perform a tour of 14 cities in mid-sized arenas and theaters in the U.K. and Europe. The British leg of the tour is a success and they re-released "I'll Never Break Your Heart" single climbs to number 8 in the U.K.
*The Boys go to Aspen, Colorado and film their 3rd Video, “I’ll Never Break Your Heart”. Sierra, Heaven, Aph, Dawn, and Alima are in this video.
*Despite heavy competition, the Boys win a phone-in poll for the Best Group category at the MTV Europe Awards.
December 15: Brian and Sierra take a little detour trip to Las Vegas and are married in a small ceremony with witnesses of: Dawn, AJ, Aphrodesia, Howie, Alima, Kevin, Heaven, and his girlfriend, Cassie.
December 20: Sierra gets an early Christmas gift from Brian, which is a 3-bedroom apartment for them and a beautifully decorated nursery.
1997 –
January: The Boys take time out to record and be with their families. They prepare for a 37-city tour of Europe. The video “Anywhere for You” is filmed in the city of Miami.
February 17: The Boys begin their Euro-Tour without the girls.
February 19: Boys return home after Sierra goes into labor.
February 20: At 1:37 am, Sierra and Brian welcome the birth of a healthy 8 pound 10 ounces boy named Devon Thomas Littrell.
February 28: "Quit Playing Games (With my Heart)" climbs to a disappointing number 15 on the U.K. charts.
March: "Anywhere for You" climbs to number 4 on the U.K. charts.
April: They turn their attention to America. After selling more than 8.5 million CDs, the Boys begin work on a new album for release in the U.S. The album would combine the best material from their debut CD along with some of their newer songs.
May: “Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)” video is filmed in Orlando, Florida at Howard Middle School.
June:
*"Quit Playing Games (With My Heart)" is released in the U.S. and quickly climbs to number 2 on the charts.
*Kevin gets married in a quiet ceremony in Lexington, KY to long-time girlfriend, Cassie Ryan.
July: The boys go to Los Angeles for three weeks to film three new videos. Side Note: Aphrodesia meets Jason Behr, an upcoming actor, during auditions for the "Everybody" Video. Jason lost the part but gained a woman.
*All I Have To Give
– filmed during Independence Day and a great celebration occurs after this
*As Long As You Love Me
– Dawn, Sierra, Alima, and Aphrodesia, who is now living in Orlando and going to school, appear in the video.
- Sierra gets in a fight with an actress, Leighanne, who got one of the other parts for the video, after she began to flirt too much with Brian and made a rude comment about Devon, who was at the video shoots with them.
*Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)
- Dawn, Heaven, Sierra, and Aphrodesia appear in this video. Alima appears in the video, but she isn't in the spotlight or with any of the guys. "Blink and you will miss her".
- During this, Dawn, Sierra, and Aphrodesia get their first job as assistants to the Boys’ choreographer, Fatima.
*“As Long As You Love Me” is released as a single.
August:
*The Boys release their first U.S. album Backstreet Boys. The album would go on to sell nearly nine million copies in the U.S.A. and become the number 3 album of the year.
*Dawn and AJ find out and announce that she is pregnant at Howie’s birthday party. During this, AJ also proposes to her.
*“Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)” is released to the rest of the world and quickly begins a steady climb up the charts everywhere.
December: The Boys embark on their 60-city, 20-country tour that will last nearly a year.
*US video version of “I’ll Never Break Your Heart” is filmed. Sierra is put with Nick after finding out that Leighanne the Bitch is going to be with Brian. Aph is in the video with Howie. Dawn isn't in the video because of her pregnancy, so Alima takes her place and is with AJ. Aphrodesia's first job as fashion coordinator.
1998 –
January 1:
*AJ and Dawn are married in a midnight-ceremony, while celebrating New Year’s in New York with the rest of the guys. Jason and Aphrodesia eloped that night in Las Vegas and return a few hours later to witness the wedding.
* US version of “I’ll Never Break Your Heart” is released as a single, it premieres on TRL, being the 4th video of the Boys to be on the show.
February 20:
*AJ and Dawn welcome the birth of a set of beautiful twin daughters, Alexis "Alley" Marie and Alexandra Paige McLean.
*Later that night, the rest of the guys celebrate Brian’s (23) birthday and Devon’s 1st birthday.
March: The Boys headline a tornado relief concert in Orlando, raising $250,000 for local victims of the nation's deadliest tornado disaster in 13 years.
April: The Boys perform and tape the acoustic show, “A Night Out With the Backstreet Boys”. After which, Brian is hospitalized with double pneumonia and told about his heart having to be operated on. The Boys manager makes Brian post-pone the surgery for another month, while they continue to prepare for their US tour.
May: Brian undergoes surgery to correct a congenital heart disorder. Within 8 weeks, he is back on tour with the Boys.
*During Brian’s surgery, Nick finally realizes that Sierra loves Brian and begins to accept their relationship.
*Nick turns to Heaven as a comfort for Brian's condition. Heaven realizes her feelings for Nick, but he is being a dumb blonde.
*21st – Jason and Aphrodesia welcome their first (and only) child, Tristan Raine Behr.
June:
*Boys embark on their 60-city, 20-country tour of North America and Europe.
*During the first week, Brian is not there, but still recovering from his surgery. But is later forced back on tour without his consent and without being mentally or physically ready for it. This causes the Boys to reconsider their relationship with their management and Lou Phearlman.
*The single, “All I Have To Give”, is released being the 5th video to be on the show, TRL.
July: News of a legal battle between the Boys, their management and Lou Pearlman surfaces in the media. The Boys wanted more control over the group's corporate entity and a more equitable stake in it.
August:
*Songwriter/producer Denniz PoP dies August 30. PoP helped to evolve the Boy's sound and was responsible for many other artists, including the Ace of Base, 5ive and Robyn.
September:
*The Boys pick up a MTV Video Music Award for Best Group or Duo for “Everybody (Backstreet’s Back)”.
*13th – Jason is found cheating on Aphrodesia with Shiri Appleby, who is later famed for the TV Show, ROSWELL.
*Tragedy strikes the Dorough family. Howie and Alima's sister Caroline Cochran loses her battle with a disease called Lupus. She was only 37.
October:
*The Boys receive the keys to the city from the mayor of Orlando in honor of the tornado relief concert the group headlined in March.
*3rd – Kevin and Cassie welcome the birth of a healthy baby boy named Tyler Scott Richardson.
*The Boys settle their lawsuit with Lou Pearlman. Details of the settlement are not disclosed. They also break with longtime managers Donna and Johnny Wright, insisting that the split is amicable.
*A European tour, scheduled to start in December, is postponed until the following May, giving the Boys time to work out their new corporate identity and spend more time recording their next album.
*The guys appear on MTV’s TRL to clear up some matters and rumors that were going around after the MTV News Special - "Robbers of the Cradle":
1) The truth about Dawn, AJ, Sierra, and Brian’s weddings and children.
2) The introduction of the guys’ wives and children to the fan base, which doesn’t destroy their fan base but makes it even larger.
3) During this, Brian asks Sierra to marry him again and she, of course, says “yes”.
November:
*The Boys team up with VH1 and Tony Bennett to help further the goals of "VH1 Save the Music," a national campaign designed to restore music education to America's public schools.
*Nick's mom Jane releases "The Heart and Soul of Nick Carter," a tell-all book about the teen idol.
December:
*The Backstreet Boys' self-titled U.S. debut album joins Celine Dion's Lets Talk About Love as 1998's biggest-selling album, with over eight million copies sold.
*A stagehand filed a $3 million lawsuit against the group, contending he was injured by a 50-pound cannon that fell on his head.
*15th – Brian and Sierra have their second wedding ceremony (first for "backstreet" terms) in Lexington, Kentucky. All of the guys and girls are there. The wedding becomes the subject of an MTV Diary.
1999 -
January:
*The Boys sign on with management company The Firm, whose stable of artists include: Korn, Limp Bizkit and Ice Cube among others.
*The Boys get their first Grammy nod with a nomination for Best New Artist of 1998.
*31st - Aph gets divorced from Jason and has no place to stay, so she moves into an apartment with Heaven and Alima. Howie is living in an apartment under them.
February:
*The Record Industry Association of America (RIAA) certifies the self-titled U.S. debut album as "Diamond" (over ten million copies sold).
*The Boys announce the release date for their third (second in the U.S.) album, Millennium.
*The video, “I Want It That Way”, is filmed at LAX Airport in Los Angeles. Heaven, Aphrodesia, and Alima surprise Brian and AJ by bringing Dawn and Sierra plus the kids to the video shoot. The girls become extras in the video after a little help from the Guys.
March: Brian returns home to direct 45 local choral students who will sing background vocals for a song on the next album.
April:
*"I Want It That Way" is released to radio and is immediately picked up by 165 stations.
*The Boys encourage teens to build strong bones with a Milk Mustache ad.
*Kevin and Cassie Richardson file for separation after she is caught cheating on him with actor, David Boreanaz.
May:
*The Boys release Millennium, which sets the record for first week sales in the U.S. at 1.1 million copies.
*16th - Aph and Raine get asked to move in with Howie after Howie confesses his feelings for her on the 2 hour live show for their Millennium Album.
*18th - Premiere party...Nick finally asks Heaven (the light went on for Nick) out as his girlfriend in front of all the guys. Kevin was a little unhappy, but understood Heaven's feeling for Nick and let them be.
June: The Boys travel to Belgium to begin a mega-tour. One month after its release, Millennium - quite amazingly - still has a solid hold on the #1 spot on the Billboard album charts.
July: The video for “Larger than Life” is filmed in Orlando. MTV comes to interview the guys for show “Live From Orlando”. Hurricane cancels the start of tour rehearsals, but filming still goes on.
August 14: The Boys sell out their 39-city fall tour in less than a day.
September:
*"Larger Than Life" is released to radio.
*'N Sync joins Jive Records to become BSB label mates.
October:
*The Backstreet Boys declare their Jive contract null and void.
*3rd – Kevin and, ex-wife, Cassie welcome their second son, Jerald James "JJ" Richardson. The couple had separated back in April.
November:
*Kevin is named People magazine's Sexiest Pop Star.
*In one of the largest record deals ever, the Boys strike a new partnership agreement with Jive Records valued at about $60 million.
*The Boys win the Best Group title at the MTV Europe Awards.
*Video for “Show Me the Meaning of Being Lonely” is filmed in an almost abandoned street in Orlando. Filmed during 2 nights. Aph is pale girl getting tossed around; Alima is girl that disappears in front of Howie; Heaven is girl saved by Nick (almost run over by AJ's bus); Sierra is girl who is sitting next to Howie in cafe (pregnant - therefore, SIT); and Dawn is the girl that disappears in front of AJ.
December:
*AJ introduces his alter ego, Johnny No-Name, and prepares for a January concert in support of VH1's Save the Music campaign.
*The Boys dominate the 1999 Billboard Music Awards, winning in four categories (Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, Albums Artist of the Year, Albums Artist Duo/Group of the Year).
*The Boys announce a spring tour for 2000 and ask the online auction site eBay to remove over 700 ticket auctions. In one completed auction, four tickets to the Indianapolis Conseco Fieldhouse show were sold for $4,550.
*The Boys sue Pearlman again, accusing him of repeatedly violating the California Talent Agencies Act by functioning as both the group's manager and its unlicensed talent agent.
*4th - Kevin announces a divorce settlement between him and his wife, Cassie Ryan.
*17th – The divorce is finalized with them sharing custody of their two sons. Later found that David had little fling with Aphrodesia, given the oldest Backstreet Boy some happiness.
*25th – Brian and Sierra welcome their second child, a beautiful baby girl named Alexandra "Lexi" Nicole, born while on Christmas break in Kentucky.
2000 –
January:
*The Boys appear on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine - without their pants - answering the age-old question, "Boxers or briefs?"
*1st – Video and single for “SMTMOBL” is released. Video premieres on MTV during their New Year’s Eve Bash.
*The Boys and their producers are nominated for five Grammy Awards including Record, Album, Pop Album, Song and Pop Song of the year.
*Burger King announces an exclusive promotion with BSB and title sponsorship of the group's fall 2000 tour.
February:
*The Boys team up with Stan Lee to create a new comic book and Web-based series called The Backstreet Project.
*Although they come up empty-handed at the Grammy Awards, they impress the world with a fabulous performance with Elton John.
March:
*17th - Howie proposes to Aph on her favorite day of the year.
*Aphrodesia and Sierra go into studio to reformat tour videos to use for single, “The One”. Production becomes team effort as Kevin and Dawn enter the whole reformatting process.
April:
*Boys appear on VH1’s first “Men Strike Back” concert. Kevin seeks his feminine side by wearing weird dress slash pants outfit. The concert is to benefit VH1’s Save the Music Foundation.
*The Boys spend 15 days in the Bahamas writing songs for the next album. During this time, Kevin finally sees a friendship/relationship in Howie's little sister, Alima and a potential relationship. Howie isn't happy since he catches them in bed together. Note: Alima was still from "Virginia" (a virgin). After they are together for the first week and finally get caught, Kevin asks Alima to be his girlfriend.
May:
*Nick auctions his couch off for a local charity.
*The Kentucky cousins rub elbows with the elite at various Kentucky Derby events. During this, Kevin takes Alima along and takes her to meet his Mom and brothers.
June:
*Howie D. raises over $100,000 at his Lupus 2000 charity benefit.
*AJ’s grandparents move into their mom’s home, so they can be closer to Denise, who is helping with his grandmother’s diabetes, which had gotten worse with her age.
July:
*Two tiny blonde Chihuahuas belonging to Brian and Sierra are snatched from the couple's home near Orlando by two trespassing teenage girls. The dogs are returned a couple of days later nervous and hungry, but otherwise fine.
*Kevin goes to court and gets partial custody of his sons, who spend half the year in LA with their mother, Cassie, and her new husband, actor David Boreanaz, and the other half with Kevin in Orlando. But the boys spend most of their time in Orlando with Kevin, since Cassie is always too busy for her sons.
August:
*The first in a series of collectible CDs and BSB figurines appear in Burger King outlets across North America.
*4th - The video for “Shape of My Heart”, the first single from new album is filmed. The filming of the video becomes the subject of MTV’s show, “Making the Video”. Devon, who is 3 years old, gets sick from rain falling at video shoot. Goes into hospital for 5 weeks with pneumonia; Brian and I almost lose him because the pneumonia was really hard on him. Plus, Brian and I find out that Devon has a hole in his heart, so they have to go ahead and do surgery on him, this is why he is in the hospital for 5 weeks.
*6th – Kevin goes into the hospital to get surgery on his knee that he had hurt during the last tour. After surgery, he is in the hospital for two days. For the next week, he is stuck in a wheel chair since he is not allowed to be on his feet. The two weeks after that, Kevin is in physical therapy to help him get the motion back.
September: The Boys announce that the name of the new album will be "Black & Blue".
October: Pre-orders for the new album top 5 million units leading to speculation about first week's sales records.
November:
*The Boys release "Black & Blue".
*10th – The boys film the video for “The Call”, which is the second single from B&B. Sierra, Dawn, Alima, and Heaven appear in the video. Sierra and Dawn – girl that helps cheat with the guys; Heaven – maid in hotel; Alima – girl laying on bed in the room; Aph – the girlfriend who is left sitting at home and Heaven - girl walking in hallway with man (pissed off Nick). During this video shoot, Sierra - 7 months pregnant with twins, Dawn – 6 months pregnant with twins....but this problem is easily hidden with their clothing.
*21st –100 Hour Tour: To promote it, they travel around the world visiting all of the continents except for Antarctica in 100 hours. It sells over 1.6 million copies in the USA in its first week and debuts at the top of the Billboard charts. Around the world, the album sells over 5 million copies in its first week.
December:
*B&B is certified 8x platinum by the RIAA.
*AJ loses his grandmother after a long battle with diabetes.
*5th - Dawn and Sierra's baby shower. Held at Howie's new night/dance club, TABU.
*24th - Nick takes Heaven to the beach for a special Christmas Eve present and proposes to her.
*25th - Heaven and Nick announces their proposal at Brian and Sierra's Christmas party, where Kevin and Brian's families are there. Kevin is shocked and passes out. The only family left out is Nick's.
2001 –
January:
*1st - Howie and Aph's wedding in Dublin, Ireland. IRONY!!! They honeymoon in Ireland and Spain.
*The Boys announce a world tour that could break the record held by the Rolling Stones as the world's #1 live band.
*The boys pick up a Grammy nomination for Show Me The Meaning Of Being Lonely.
*28th – Brian and Sierra welcome the birth of fraternal twins, Brian Alexander "Alex" and Briana "Bree" Nicole, on Nick’s 21st Birthday. Born in Nick's bathtub. The gang was there celebrating an early birthday party for Nick because he was leaving the next morning to spend the weekend with his parents in California.
*29th - Nick and Heaven finally tell Nick's folks while in California. Nick's mom tells him that they are moving back to Orlando to help Nick and Heaven. Heaven has mixed feelings about this.
February:
*The Boys continue their tour of America and Canada.
*14th – Kevin proposes to Alima Dorough, who accepts his proposal. Howie is actually happy about this and so is the whole Dorough clan. AJ and Dawn welcome the birth of their twins, Thomas "Tommy" Scott and Alexander James "Age or Junior" McLean, Jr.
March: The boys film the video for “More Than That”.
May: The single “More Than That” is released in the US, Canada, and Europe.
July:
*AJ and Brian coming home drunk incident. AJ confesses that he has a drinking problem to Alexis, who in turn helps him get the help he needs and confronting the boys, Dawn, and Sierra.
*AJ enters rehab to battle his drinking and depression. The tour is postponed until September.
September: The terrorist attacks on the USA caused the Boys to cancel their plans to tour overseas in Europe and Australia due to security concerns. Daniel Lee, a carpenter on the tour, had been using time off in the tour schedule to travel from Boston to Los Angeles to be with his pregnant wife. He was a passenger on one of the doomed airlines that crashed into the World Trade Center in New York.
October:
*The Boys release Chapter 1, a compilation CD of their greatest hits. The album debuts atop the Billboard charts.
*The Boys also perform at the United We Stand concert in Washington DC as well as the Concert For New York City, two benefit concerts for the victims of September 11.
2002 –
January:
*The Boys receive a Grammy nomination for their performance of Shape Of My Heart from the Black & Blue album. The award was in the Best Pop Performance By A Duo Or Group With Vocal category.
*Nick makes headlines after being arrested and charged with resisting a law enforcement officer early January 2 after he refused to leave a Tampa nightclub when police instructed him to do so.
February:
*The Boys begin studio work for the next, as yet untitled, album.
*Nick agrees to enter a pretrial intervention program that allows him to avoid jail and any criminal record for getting into a spat with a Tampa police officer at a nightclub in January.
*Boys appear at the 2002 Grammy Awards. They don’t receive an award, but do present one. The guys looked very good during this.
May 2002:
*They're off. Kevin, Alima, and Howie hobnob with celebrities at the Mint Jubilee (Pre-Derby Party) in Louisville, Kentucky. While, the next day showing up at the Kentucky Derby. Kevin announces that his wedding with Alima will be December 25th, 2002 – (Christmas Day).
July:
*4th - Nick and Heaven's wedding in Key West, Florida. They honeymoon in Australia for two weeks.
21st – Brian announces on MTV's TRL that Sierra and him are expecting their fifth (actually, the fifth and sixth. TWINS AGAIN.) AJ's view: OOPS, THEY DID IT AGAIN. Later on the same show, Dawn surprises AJ, by telling him that she is also pregnant. AJ passes out on National Television.
October:
3rd - Kevin's Birthday and surprise from Alima. She tells him that she's pregnant, but they decide not to tell Howie.
11th – Kevin gets full custody of Tyler and JJ from Cassie and David Boreanaz. Cassie can have them for a weekend only with Kevin's consent. Alima goes with Kevin to file adoption papers for Tyler and JJ. Aph gets full custody of Raine. Jason gets supervised visitations with Aph's consent. Shiri Appleby is under court restriction...cannot go anywhere near Raine.
*31st - Aph and Howie announce that she is pregnant during the guys' Halloween party and Aph's own birthday party.
November:
25th – Thanksgiving at the Carter's....Well, Nick and Heaven announce that she is pregnant.
December:
15th – Brian and Sierra get remarried in Kentucky. 3rd actual marriage, 2nd in the life of a Backstreet Boy.
25th – Kevin and Alima (Dorough) are getting married in Kentucky. Kevin and Alima get a Christmas gift of her approval to adopt JJ and Tyler. Howie is not so happy. He's gonna be an uncle and didn't even know it. OOPS!!! :O The two of them go on their honeymoon in Italy.
2003 –
January:
1st - Kevin and Nick pass out when Heaven tells him that she is pregnant with twins.
9th – AJ and Dawn are to welcome their newest set of twins, Jade Adrianna and Margaret "Maggie" Lynn.
14th - Harold Baker "Hollywood" Littrell Sr. , 82, of Lexington, husband of Ena Begley Littrell, died Tuesday, January 14, 2003 at his residence. Born in Fayette County, he was a son of the late Rayburn Baker and Myrtle Grayson Littrell. He was retired from IBM after 23 years of service, and a devoted UK sports fan. He was a member of the Baptist faith, a Kentucky Colonel, and a past member of the Barber Shop Chorus. Survivors other than his wife include a daughter, Ann Richardson, Lexington; a son, Harold B. and Jackie Littrell, Jr., Lexington; a stepson, Rufus and Sherri Baker, TX; six grandchildren, Jerald, Timothy and Tracy, Kevin and Alima, Harold III and Tracy, Brian and Sierra, Heaven Leigh and Nick; and twelve great-grandchildren, Jerald James, Tyler, Paige, Devon, Alexandra, Brian Alexander, Briana, Austin, Angelita, Aurora, Kai, and Will.
February:
13th – Charity ball will be held for the Backstreet Charities. Hosted by Sierra and Aphrodesia.
14th – Brian and Sierra welcome the early arrive of their newest twins, Angelita "Angel" Tristan and Austin Tyler, who unfortunately must stay in the hospital for a few weeks because of heart problems.
March:
*17th - Happy St. Patrick's Day to Aph and welcome to the newest member of the Dorough clan, Erin Oriana.
April:
1st – April Fool's Day to Kevin...Or was it? Alima and Kevin welcomed their newest arrival, Paige Ann Richardson. Kevin passed out for the third time in his life. TOO MUCH BLOOD!!
May:
2nd - Backstreet Boys with wives (and some kids) in tow hobnob with celebrities at the Mint Jubilee (Pre-Derby Party) in Louisville, Kentucky.
3rd - Kentucky Derby in Louisville, Kentucky.
3rd - The happy arrival of the Baby Carters, Kai Scott and Aurora Charisma. Nick passed out and the bets were all paid-up.
June:
30th - AJ and Brian were spotted by fans during a Charity Golf game, which supported Brian's charity "The Healthy Heart Club".
30th - Two members of the Backstreet Boys escaped injury Monday night in a three-vehicle accident on Leestown Road in Lexington, Kentucky. The wreck occurred at the entrance to the Masterson Station subdivision. A-J McLean and Brian Littrell were passengers in a Toyota Camry that was sideswiped by a car that had been struck by a car attempting a left turn just before 8:30 p-m. Lexington police describe damage to all three vehicles as minor.
July:
4th - Nick and Heaven's one-year anniversary. Celebrated at home with the children away for the night. The rest of the gang had a nice barbeque at the Littrell residence and watched the Magic Kingdom's firework display.
August:
22 - Howie turned the big 3-0 and the gang celebrated with a grand party at Howie's club, TABU.
December:
29 - Aphrodesia runs off in the middle of the night with her newest fling, David Boreanaz, leaving behind Howie and her daughter, ERIN.
2004 –
MAY:
Kevin and Alima welcomed a set of triplets named, CAROLINE RAE, MADISON LEA, and ZACHARY RYAN.
MAY - JUNE:
Howie needing a break from the world decides to go to VEGAS for a few weeks and then to PUERTO RICO for another few weeks. While in vegas, Howie meet a girl named AIMEE. And on the 15th of June marries her after a two-month fling. The BOYS were shocked but also happy for him. AJ got the shock of his life to find out that she was his sister from "THE NIGHT BEFORE DAD LEFT" thing. And, she had been living with his dad.
December:
Nick has a lapse in judgement and cheats on Heaven with Paris Hilton.
