When the Backstreet Boys first got together, Kevin, Howie, and Brian moved into a 5-bedroom apartment with Howie's baby sister, Alima Rae Dorough, and Kevin's baby sister, Heaven Leigh Richardson. So, during this time, Alima and Kevin lived in close quarters, but soon Kevin moved out after getting engaged to his first wife, Casandra Richardson. Alima watched from the sidelines as the man that she had fallen in love with was married, became the father of two handsome sons, and got his heart broken all within three years. But a chance to tell the one that she loved of her feelings for him soon arrived as the Backstreet Boys went to the Bahamas to record some new songs for their BLACK AND BLUE album.
While in the Bahamas, Kevin found out Alima's feelings for him and after a little time (a few hours), Kevin told her that he also loved her. The two of them kept their relationship secret for a few days down in the Bahamas, but soon everyone found out as Howie caught them together. But as the old saying says "no blood, no foul" and there was none (thanks to Aph), just a little arguing.
Not too long later, actually the next year, the day before the Kentucky Derby, Kevin took Alima to a special place that he knows about (a small cabin in the Kentucky woods) and proposed to her...The next day at the Derby, Kevin told the world and her family on NATIONAL TELEVISION, of all things...And during that, Alima said that it will be a winter wedding and Kevin said "Yes, a Christmas Day wedding"...and that is how the date was set....
