This project was conceived by Edward Faust (Neil Rambaldi, ex-Etheria, Come Closer, misc. cover and tribute bands) after years of contemplation, procrastination, and various other necessities and inconveniences that "real life" has to offer. Primarily performing as a drummer, he has decided to apply his other abilities at guitar, bass, vocals, basic keys, and various other percussion and stringed instuments. "I've always played more that one thing at a time, mostly because I get bored very easily. I don't mind being a sideman; I still continue to do so, but I feel it's time to do things on my terms, to speak my voice."
After years of writing, and "scrapping" material, a frustrated Eddie almost surrendered the idea of this project coming to light. "Everything sounded formulated, recycled and contrived; it was prog for the sake of being prog. It was then I realized that I was writing to only showcase my drumming. This was a huge mistake (actually plain stupid), since it's not the only instrument I play. I had completely forgot what this was about, and why I am doing this; to write SONGS." Songs began to emerge and flow with transitions going from subtle to drastic, mellow to brutal, simple to complex, diverse, yet always with a focus on melody, structure, flow, and emotional content. Add the vocal, lyrical, and melodic talents of Tom Engel, who has the voice and ability to enhance the songs to it's fullest potential.
In November of 2002, under the moniker of "WINTER," a demo version of "The Circle" was released as a single to a small number of on-line press and radio to test the waters. Within weeks that one song recieved nothing but positive feedback and praise. However, outside obligations and name changes and searches prevented this from moving forward.............until now.
Now that lives are settled into place, Ed has decided to make Transient his priority. "I've finally grown weary of busting my butt on the local scene and getting nowhere very slowly. I've given everyone else my time with no regrets, but now it's my turn to build and climb my own ladder." The realization came that doing "the band thing" was not an option. "It only takes one bad element to screw everything up. I'm tired of playing baby-sitter, and I have no time or inclination to deal with lost causes."
In September of 2004, Ed completed his home studio, and hopes to complete the instrumental tracks by November of 2004. For now you can hear demo versions of some of the songs that are to be on the album.
