Bowling is recognised as a Sports ECA in ACS(I) which is one of the few schools in Singapore to do so. There are about 70 boys in the various bowling training schemes organised by the Singapore tenpin Bowling Congress. The boys (Spex 2000 E-Team and school players) trained regularly on Thursday and Friday afternoons at Jurong Super-Bowl. Another group of boys
(Spex 2000 D-team) who have been identified as potential national players trained on Saturday mornings at Victors Super-Bowl.
Apart from the rigorous skills training, the boys have also taken part in several competitions. Last December the bowlers did ACS(I) proud when they clinched the Championship Trophy in the National Schools Bowling Competition. The school sent in 3 teams for the competition. The two newly-trained and inexperienced 'C' Division teams put up a tough fight to win a silver medal.
It was the 'B' Division that did the school proud by winning Overall Championship. The proud
victors were Vinson See, Andrew Fang, Guy Tan and Alwyn Chong. At the conclusion of the
tournament, seven ACSians were selected to join the combined schools squad.
Being the pioneers of the sports in ACS(I), the teachers and the boys hope to see more boys
participating in this ECA. The Best is Yet To Be.
