30 July 1997 will definitely be a day to remember for the ACS (I) Bowling Team. The 'B' and 'C' Divisions Bowlers had trained very hard to prepare for the 4th National Schools Tenpin Bowling Championships. The hard work finally paid off when our team made a clean sweep for both championships.
The atmosphere was tense during the competition. It was a very tough fight for the 'B' division
bowlers. However, with the strong determination of the bowlers and also the support of our coach, Mr. Lawrence Song, the support of the teachers-in-charge, Mrs. Judy Ho and Ms. Wee Kin Ngo, our team
pulled through to win the overall championships. The school championships are decided by the All-Events standing positions of the top four bowlers from the school. Our school clinched the Bronze for the 'B' division All-Events. The 'B' division challenge trophy was finally brought home this year after having been lost to Thomson Secondary the previous year.
The 'C' Division Team performed even better, beating the other schools by a large margin, winning 8 out of the 12 medals. This is the third year in succession for the 'C' division Team to win the championship. Our school clinched the Gold and Bronze for the 'C' Division All-Events.
The day ended with a huge celebration when we were rewarded to an extremely sumptuous steamboat
dinner by the teachers-in-charge. I am sure that even those who did not win any medal would also feel proud to be part of the ACS (I) bowling team.
