The 1995 Canadian Search For Miss Universe Pageant

Miss Canadian Universe 1995, Lana Buchberger of Calgary

The 1995 CSMU pageant was held at the Mayfield Inn Theatre on April 3, 1995. This years pageant was hosted by Terry Lynn Meyer, a former Miss Canada and Seanna Collins. The special entertainment guests were Tyler Hamilton and Dendra Taylor.

The pageant was opened by Terry Lynn Meyer. Then there was the opening number with all the delegates.

The 18 contestants were:

Atlantic Provinces

-Miss Newfoundland and Labrador, Kerri-Lynn Power
(despite her offical title she represented Mount Pearl)

Quebec

-Miss Montreal, Quebec, Laura-Dawn Moule

Ontario

-Miss Ottawa, Ontario, Karen Buness
-Miss Toronto, Ontario, Nicola Jowett
-Miss Missasauga, Ontario, Melissa Josefsson
-Miss Northern Ontario, Brandie Strojny

Alberta

-Miss Grande Prairie, Alberta, Deanna Joy Biegel
-Miss Edmonton, Alberta, Kathleen Brandon
-Miss Hinton, Alberta, Ginette Ostashek
-Miss Calgary, Alberta, Lana Buchberger
-Miss Fairview, Alberta, Amy El-Nahaas
-Miss Red Deer, Alberta, Renee Prusak
-Miss Medicine Hat, Alberta, Joelle Hildebrand

British Columbia

-Miss Westbank, BC, Raena Barry
-Miss Central BC, Michelle Stewart

They then introduced the judges and talked about Senna Collins. After this was the swimsuit competition which all the delegates participated in with their little sisters.

After this there was entertainment by Kendra Taylor followed by the evening gown competition. In their evening gowns the ladies went with their escorts through the RCMP's with their flags, until they joined up with their little sisters who gave them roses. This is what I can say about what the delegates wore:

-Miss Newfoundland wore a simple white slip gown with the straps below the sholders and a slit up the leg. She wore her gown with a scarf and her hair was short but had a lot of volume and was put back.

-Miss Red Deer wore a gown with sleeves blow the sholders. She wore a black gown with different sequin patterns in it. She wore her hair up.

-Miss Grande Prarie sore a simple black gown with white straps below the sholder and a necklace. She wore her hair up.

-Miss Calgary wore a gown similar to the one worn by Nancy Elder in MU 1993. She looked beautiful and wore her hair up.

-Miss Fairview wore a gown that had a black lace over lighter material top with the straps below the shoulders. The bottow of the gown was lighter then the top and she wore her hair down.

-Miss Central BC wore a white slip gown with a neck band and a beaded pattern joining the band with the gown. She wore her hair down.

-Miss Toronto wore an elegant black gown with long sleeves. She wore a necklace and her blond hair was put up.

-Miss Vancouver wore a black slip gown with spegetti straps and a slit up the let. She wore it with a scarf and her hair down. Miss Medicine Hat wore a white gown that had large shoulders and short sleeves. The bottom went staight down and she wore her hair up.

-Miss Westbank wore a stright black gown with a sequin pattern on the top. She wore it with gloves and her hair up.

-Miss Nigara wore a black slip gown with a lot of decoration on it. There was a slit up the leg and between the bust there was some see through black material. She wore her hair up.

-Miss Ontario North wore a black gown with bits of decoration on it. It had spegetti straps and she wore her curly hair down.

-Miss Edmonton wore a black gown and her long curly hair down.

-Miss Kelowna wore a mature looking purple slip gown with lots of decoration. The gown has long sleeves and a hard shoulder line. She wore her hair up.

After this there was entertainment by Tyler Hamilton and the special awards, talent, photogenic, fitness, and congeniality.

After the awards were called there was the Novelty Western Number. The ten semi-finalists were called and had impromptu interviews. There was then the formal introductions and an entertainment duet of Kendra Taylor and Tyler Hamilton.

After that the five finalists were called. Suzanne Rothfos, Miss Canadian Universe 1994 took her fairwell walk. Then finally was the crowning of the new Miss Canadian Universe, Lana Buchberger, of Calgary Alberta
