Juliana Theissen is easily one of the very best Miss Canadian Universes ever. Beautiful and kind, she made a great titleholder and has been a great woman. I have created this section to praise this wonderful titleholder.

Miss Teen Calgary 1994

Juliana's first pageant experience was in the Miss Calgary 1994 pageant. She had this to say about it: "My first pageant experience was Miss Teen Calgary 1994. I was 14 years old at the time. I saw an advertisement in the paper and I decided that it was something that I really wanted to try. I had so much fun with my mom, cruising the consignment stores for the perfect dress. We finally found a mid-length black sequinned gown. I thought that it was the most glamorous dress I had ever seen and I felt so beautiful in it. There were about 75 girls in the pageant. I met a lot of friends and despite the fact that I wasn't in the top three, I just thought it was so fun! I won "Miss Teen Friendship" I think that was the biggest honor. I look back now and laugh at how I treasured that prize. I was working at the time at a fast food restaurant, Lee's Chicken. We were having a customer appreciation day and I remember my boss saying that he would like me to wear my sash to greet people. I know it sounds silly now, but I felt so special. I felt like people were interested in me. I'm sure most of them probably thought I was crazy, but that day, I felt like a little bit of a celebrity, and I loved it!"

Miss Calgary 1998

At only 18, Juliana entered and won the Miss Calgary pageant. She never expected to win, especially after she got her heel caught in the stage and have to stop and pick it out. Despite that minor inconvienience, with her beauty, grace, and intellegence, Juliana was still able to bring the crown home.

Canadian Search for Miss Universe 1998

This is what Juliana had to say about CSMU 98:

The Canadian Search for Miss Universe was scary for me. I didn't even think past Miss Calgary because I never expected to win. I remember the first day, I walked into the room and I felt like walking right out. It was completely not my world. I saw in that room girls who had had years of experience. They just looked like queens.

The week was filled with photoshoots, interviews, rehearsalsand much activity. I was lucky enough to have supportive roommates - we kept each other sane and cool. (Miss Nova Scotia - Christina Parker, and Miss Prince Edward Island, Rachel Daigle).

I realized during that week that I was there for one reason: God wanted me there. The final night was a surprize for me, I wore a white wedding dress that I borrowed from Ethos. I couldn't believe I made it into the top 5, until I heard my question, "who do you believe is the most influential person, past or present, and why?" When I heard that question, I didn't have to hesitate. I answered Jesus Christ, because he brings hope to this world, and we all need a little of that. When I won the competition, I knew that it was my Saviour's victory and not my own.

Miss Universe

This is what Juliana had to say about Miss Universe 1998:

Miss Universe 1998 was a combination of many things to me. First, I would like to say that it was a great honor to represent Canada on an international stage. It was the most glamorous, and frightening experience I have ever had. I learned things that both hurt and strengthened me. The experience seemed somewhat surreal, I had the privilege of being involved, but allowed myself to also be an observer.

I truly believe that holding the title of Miss Canadian Universe was a gift and a duty. I did it with purpose, because I knew it was a means by which to serve God.

For the national costume competition she wore a red dress with a white, fur lined cape with a hood and a Canadian Flag on the back. It was really cool, kind of a ice queen look or something. Really great idea, very original, very different, and did you notice how cute she was during the music video showing it off. She's just so cute!!

Evening Gown

Juliana's gown is like somthing that would come off the runway of a haute couture collection in Paris! The beading on the top of this gown is exquisite and the colour is both beautiful and very well suited for Juliana.

Juliana's Reign

Although she didn't make it to the finals, Juliana has been a great role model. She traveled to Nicaragua on a Operation Christmas Child distrobution trip and traveled around Canada promoting her "it's all about Jesus" campaign as well as doing a ton more, more then any other CSMU titleholder. She has done alot for charity, and is definately one of the best Miss Canadian Universes of all time because she is not only one of the most beautiful you'll ever meet physically but one of the most beautiful people on the inside aswell.

Here she is in Nicaragua, helping out the Operation Christmas Child Organization.

Here she is at a local parade.

Here she is at the 1999 Miss Calgary pageant with Miss Calgary 99, Angel Dennis.

Juliana Today

Juliana is now Juliana Day and has married Logan Day. She has developed an interest in politics and definately has the qualities for a job in politics. She has continued to be involved in the media and has recieved a gigantic advantage by being Miss Canadian Universe. I'm sure she's still the same person who made her family proud.

Juliana has been nothing less then a spectacular titleholder. She is very beautiful inside. She has represented Calgarians, Albertans, Canadians, and Christians with Pride and Hounour and for that I extremely proud of her.
