Afghans for Angels was started by a wonderful lady; Ruth Thill, who I am forever indebted to. Please visit the main site of Afghans For Angels to see her page, the main page. We provide blankets for the precious babies who go to Heaven to be with Jesus. These blankets are often the only thing the parents have to remeber their baby in the years to come. These parents are grateful and touched that someone cared enough to make a blanket for their precious baby. I speak from experience as we lost our precious son on June 5, 1999. The blanket is something to hold onto in the years to come, something that was their baby's. We also try to provide burial layettes; gowns, hats, and booties, along with the blankets. Many times there is nothing small enough to fit these little ones. Anything we can do to help the parents just the least little bit during their time of grief, makes it worthwhile. Please won't you help? We need blankets any size form 12" and up. Bonnets, hats, burial gowns and booties; from the tiniest baby to full size newborns. Donations of yarn, material suitable for babys, and sewing notions are also appreciated. We can also use ink pads and appropriate stamps for babies to decorate boxes and cards with. Postage stamps for mailing are also much appreciated. A donation can be made via PayPal if you don't crochet, knit or sew, but would like to help. Any donations will be used for purchasing yarn, materials and accessories or for postage to mail these boxes. If you wish to make a donation through PayPal, you can use hubby's email addy Maxjdc@aol.com. Thank you and God Bless you. Please email me if you would like to help. ~AFANY@aol.com~ I will be adding patterns to the page soon. I have been having a hard time getting into the site to change things, but I think I have it figured out, so do check back for patterns.
Many of us are also crocheting, sewing and knitting for the premature babys who do stay with us. Some of them are as small as 1 pound. As you can imagine, it is almost impossible to find clothing that small. When the babys are that small, they are usually left undressed, but they do need hats, as this is where the most body heat is lost. There is also a need for booties and socks. For the preemies who are a bit bigger, we make hats, booties, socks, robes, gowns, mitts, dresses, sweaters, and almost any item of clothing you can think of. We would love to have your help if you would like to join us.
We are currently serving several hospitals; Noyes, Wyoming County Community, Strong, Women's Hospital in Louisiana,Thompson Hospital, Johns Hopkins, Licoln Hospital, University of Kentucky and Arnott Medical Center. As more items come in, we are continuing to expand our list of hospitals. We also send items to parents who come across our site and write asking for a blanket for their precious little one whom they lost. We have also sent some preemie items to parents who are in need of them. It does not matter where they live; we have sent to several different states.
We have a few patterns, but now that I am able to get into the site again, we will be adding more soon. To see the ones we do have click here. Patterns
