The Euro-Con 2 vs 2 duel.
The rules, the fun, the prize!

Sign up and win a real P51-D flight!
FRIDAY-22 FEB. As soon as you have received your euro-con badge and special incentive in the bar you are ready to sign up for the 2 vs 2 duel. The duel will start around 8.30 pm. You can only sign up as a team. If you don't have a team-mate yet, either post on the euro-con forum or find a wingman in the bar. Next thing you do is walk up to me to make sure you get on the duel-roster. This roster is a tight schedule. I will make sure the ladder can be viewed by all IN THE CONROOM. Not in the bar. On that schedule you can view on what time you and your wingman have to come into action. If you don't show up on time, your oponents will win. Simply as that. I don't feel like running around the hotel finding you dweebs, so make sure you are on time for your duel. If you are not on time, you're out. So make sure you check the duel-schedule frequently!

The Rules
Its pretty simple. Play on your own computer or ask for one of the other guests to fly on his computer. The Duel will be played in Warbirds 2.77. Because not all players are yet capable of having WBIII experience yet, unless both competing teams decide otherwise. First thing the referee does is decide what fighter (no otto planes) you are going to fly. Both teams can agree on a mount. If not; the referee will pick one. Each team launches at 10k feet above the field. The Field of the teams are situated about 20 miles away from eachother. And now comes the most important rule... how to behave untill the merge. Both teams head towards eachother in a straight way, levelled at the starting altitude of 10,000 feet with 100% throttle . Icons are set at d60 orso, and friendly- and enemynames are enabled. As soon as you have vis on your oponents the FIGHT IS ON! At that point (the merge) you are free to do whatever you think is best. Fight well, be brave. And may the best team win. You win when you or your team mate are still in flying condition and both of your oponents bailed, ditched, augered or wacked. When your team wins you automaticly move on to next round. The loosing team may hit the shower, because for them its over and out!

The Fun.
All duels can be viewed on a large video-screen. The Referee will show the fight in all its glory controlling the CM-eye. So all players can watch your moves, see the tracers streaming by your canopy...the smoke, the debris... And don't forget; victory rolls are encouraged! Make it a good fight, one the fpo-clouded "ACM experts" in the audience will remember!

P51-D "Damn Yankee.
Facts & Pics.

damn yankee photoselection

With the arrival of the famous P51-D Mustang "Damn Yankee" in 1994 the Dutch Historic Aircraft Company (DHAC) was a fact. The pony was shipped to The Netherlands in these days because there were many memorials organised in '94 and '95. The paintscheme of the Damn Yankee "OC-G" is similar -including the invasionstripes- of the 359 squadron of the 356th Fighter Group in the "Mighty" 8th USAAF. This squadron was stationed on Martlesham Heath in Suffolk (U.K) between october 1943 and november 1945.
After the P51 other planes completed the DHAC collection. Like a RCAF Harvard IIB, a De Havilland DH-82 Tiger Moth II from 1943 and a 1942 Boeing PT 17 Stearman.

Win it!

The Prize.

The duel will last untill the last team is standing. And these two happy pilots are about to experience the ride of their lives. The Euro-Con crew are delighted to offer both winners of the fridayevening two versus two duel a ride in a real North American P-51 D mustang! We made a once-in-a-lifetime deal with Tom van der Meulen, owner-pilot of the "Damn Yankee" a 1945 built mustang. She's huge... a true beauty, and I'm sure... as soon as you've seen it you just gotta respect that chromeplated aluminium horse!
As you will understand the "Damn Yankee" can only fly when the weather permits. Safety has to be garunteed above all. So if the weather is bad (we'll check early on saturday with Tom for the final go) the "winners-flight" will be cancelled. That would be ofcourse a major bummer for all of us, and especially to both winners. So we made arrangements to allow both winners to collect their prize during the Oostwold Airshow which is organised on May 19 and 20 of this year. But lets hope the weather is great and this alternate plan doesn't have to be activated. So... Breakfast is early on saturday... that is if you like to drive along to watch the Duelwinners get airborne. Saturdaymorning at excactly 10:00 am we drive off in our cars. You can ask for a ride, just ask. With all of you and the two lucky duelwinners ofcourse, we head to Lelystad where the airstrip is located. That's approx a 45 min drive. If you didn't win the duel, but would love a ride in the Mustang, you should make sure to bring 800 Euro in cash, because that's how much a flight costs. We are talking with Tom to make arrangements for extra flights for all that want one. It depends on how many of you are willing to. Contact me if you have serious plans to sit in the backseat, so we can talk to Tom and make proper arrangements.

Pale or Puke?
After both the Duel winners walk away from the pony with an absolute glorious smile stuck on their pale faces, we all drive back to the hotel, grab a quick lunch (included in your con-fee) and embark in a bus which will drive us to the Go-kart center for the second fun-event organised for you during the Euro-CON; The Merlin and BMW powered GO-KART-Race... also known as THE DWEEB-500! The race of all races. You will drive a fast go-kart around the curves of a one of Holland's greatest tracks, the Tom Coronell carting center!
