Platform Interview

After all the Miss Canada Int'l finalists were called they talked about charities that they have chosen as their platforms.

-Miss Quebec talked about a childrens charity out of Montreal that she assists. She had a bit of a hard time with English because there was no interpretor but she still did quite a good job.

-Miss Ottawa came off as a very nice person and very confindent when she talked about a children's charity that she works with. She concluded her answer talking about Canada's youth and some ways to help them and ended it very well.

-Miss Ontario had two charities that she helped. An organ donation charity and Big Sisters. She spoke very well and sounded very smart when she talked. Later in the answer she asked people to sign up for the donation charity. Her interview was very good.

-Miss Mt. Brydges talked about a hard of hearing charity that she likes to assist. Allison is actually partly deaf herself so it was very dear to her and the interview was very nice.

-Miss Kitchener-Waterloo talked about Breast Cancer: Prevention, Early Detection, and and support. She was great! She spoke like a reporter and although her answer was long she didn't babble on and was very confindent.

-Miss St. Andrew's supported Teen Challanged. Her answer was short and very good.

-Miss Vancouver assisted the Childrens' Hospital. She sounded very sweet when she spoke and was very good.

-Miss Burnaby also supported the Childrens' Hospital. She fundraised for it because of government cutbacks. Neelham was just adorable.

-Miss Newfoundland and Labrador's platform was Childfind. She used statistics which made her answer great and she was very confindent. This lady was trained by Isabelle Fry (who also trained Crystal Freake) and proved that training as well as a nice personality goes a long way in pageants.

-Miss New Brunswick did Love Yourself, a charity helping teens. She was really nervous onstage, but was still quite good.

At this time the teens came back onstage and the last special award was given out.

Top Eight

The top eight for Miss Teen Canada International 2000 were:

-Miss Teen Alberta, Ani Lika
-Miss Teen Quebec, Carine Auclair
-Miss Teen Ontario, Kimberley Shortt
-Miss Teen New Brunswick, Alesha Warner
-Miss Teen Nova Scotia, Shara Colburne
-Miss Teen Miramichi, NB, Pamela Buggie
-Miss Teen New Brunswick, Alesha Warner
-Miss Teen Bathurust, NB, Sylvia Vienneau
-Miss Teen NFLD and Labrador, Crystal Freake

The top eight were all very good. It seemed like all the contestants deserved to be in there. The biggest surprise not making it was Miss Teen Winnipeg because she seemed so out going and very beautiful and tall. I also heard that she was one of the few contestants that had modelling experience.

Onstage Questions

All the finalists answered random onstage questions.

-Miss Teen Newfoundland and Labrador was asked what she does in her community. She answered that she does many events with her church and with the pageant because she is Miss Teen NFLD and Labrador. She was really great and once again was the best out of the group.

-Miss Teen Alberta was asked what family means to her. She said that her family was very important to her and that they would always be there for her. She was very good and spoke very well.

-Miss Teen Quebec asked to have her question repeated so Brooke Ross repeated it in French. She was asked what is the most important issue affecting teens. She said that they have to be responsible with many things and that they have to be themselves. She was very good but had a really had time with her English. She was so sweet.

-Miss Teen Miramichi was asked what her plans are for the future. She talked about education and that she wants to be a police officer. She was very confindent when she spoke and very well.

-Miss Teen Ontario was asked if she could do anything for a day, what would that be? She said she would want to spend the day with people who want to excell in life. She was nervous but still quite good.

-Miss Teen Cape Breton was asked what message she would like to give to Canada's youth. She said that her message was to be yourself and she explained her answer. The beginning of her answer was very smart but the rest of her answer wasn't quite as good. Onstage she really seemed to be having fun.

-Miss Teen Bathurust was asked what person does she admire. She said that she admired Lady Di and talked about her once again. She did her best but had a hard time with English. She was still quite good and the content to her answer was very good.

-Miss Teen New Brunswick was asked what she will remember most about being a teen. She said that the freedom is what she will remember the most. She was great. She was trained by Marc Gagnon which is one of the reasons why she was so confident and poised.

After all the teens finished answering their questions Brooke Ross came back onstage and thanked the sponcers once again.

Vip serated all the Miss and Teen finalists after Brooke was done. It was really good having VIP at the pageant because they really made the pageant younger and were fun to watch.

MTCI Top Three

The top three in the teen division were:

-Miss Teen NFLD and Labrador, Crystal Freake
-Miss Teen Miramichi, NB, Pamela Buggie
-Miss Teen Alberta, Ani Lika

The top were all confindent and had been strong all evening. The biggest surprise was that Miss Teen Quebec didn't make the cut because she was so beautiful. She was cute and definately was one of the most beautiful contestants for teen or miss. Also, Miss Teen New Brunswick answered her question very well and was very poised.

The teens all answered different onstage questions at this point.

-Miss Teen Miramichi was asked how she handles peer pressure. She said that she stays involved in her community. Although her answer was a little bit fast it was still good. It was not a real surprise because her answers all evening had been very confindent and well done.

-Miss Teen Newfoundland and Labrador was asked why it is important to stand by your beliefs and morals. She said that it makes people trust you and that it shows you are a strong person. Her answer, like always, was excellent. It was confindent, smart, and very sincere.

-Miss Teen Alberta was asked to give a millennium message to Canadians. She said that women will continue moving farther and that they will be equal to men. She was very cute and did a great job despite how nervous she must have been.

MCI top three

Out of the ten finalists were called the three finalists for Miss Canada International 2000. They were:

-Miss Ontario, Mireille Eid
-Miss Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario, Sheryl Plouffe
-Miss Burnaby, BC, Neelham Brar

The surprise was Allison Graham of Mt Brydges. The problem is that the top three were so great for MCI this year that it would be hard to say who to take out to let Allison in. Allison had been great all evening and I hope to see her again at this or other pageants.

All the final three were asked the same question. To ensure fairness, two of them had to go backstage and wear headphones. While Brooke Ross was taking two of them offstage, Barry Pletch made a joke about how Brooke has an obession with Teletubbies.

The question that the final three were asked was: There has been lot of negative publicity about pageants in the last few years, how, if you were crowned Miss Canada Int'l, would you change this image?

-Miss Ontario said that the title is a job that she is ready for. That she would like to show what pageants are all about. She talked about herself if she was crowned MCI and said that she would make a difference.

She was very good. She sounded so dedicated when she spoke and her answer was the best of the three.

-Miss Kitchener-Waterloo said that the pageant should be involved in the public with eye contact and that it should also be involved in the media.

Her answer sounded better then the summary that I have posted. She sounded so great when she spoke, as always. The content of the answer wasn't her the best which is unfortunate because she is such a gifted public speaker.

-Miss Burnaby said that it wasn't only a beauty pageant any longer. She said that they judged more on the personality then physical beauty.

She said "no more" in her answer which made her sound less intellegent then she usually seems. Despite this her answer was very intellegent and very good. She is so cute in the way she talks onstage.

VIP performed for the last time after the three had finished answering the question. They performed "Just My Luck" and as always were very good.

Miss Teen Canada Int'l 1998

Nicole Gagnon of the Northwest Territories was the first Miss Teen Canada Int'l. Unfortunately she did not participate in the 2000 pageant was wasn't able to crown her winner. She was a great Miss Teen and I wish you all the best Nicole, in the future.

The New Miss Teen Canada Int'l

All the teen delegates came back onstage one more time for the annoncement of the runners-up and winner.

Second Runner-Up
Miss Teen Alberta

Ani had been great all evening. She was very smart, cute, and like all the top three gave a good answer to her final question. She was great all evening and it was no surprise that she did so well.

First Runner-Up
Miss Teen Miramichi, New Brunswick

Pamela was very confindent and good with her answers. She gave everyone a great impression from her photo because she is very photogenic. She did a great job all evening and was quite impressive.

It was no surprise to see Crystal win. Amoung being smart, beautiful, and very poised, she seemed very sincere (I'm sure she was.) Crystal impressed everyone and was a favorite from the very beginning.

Miss Canada International 1998

Leanne Baird of Stoney Creek, Ontario was a great Miss Canada International. She more charity work during her reign then any other MCI. Unfortunately she did not participate in this year's pageant and wasn't able to crown her sucessor. She represented Canada at the Miss World pageant and is an outstanding person.

The New Miss Canada International

Second Runner-Up
Miss Kitchener-Waterloo, Ontario

Sheryl was beautiful, had a great body, and was an excellent public speaker. She was a very strong contender throughout the whole pageant. It would be great to see her compete in more pageants because she is so talented.

First Runner-up
Miss Burnaby, British Columbia

Neelham was so cute during the pageant and was very pretty. She is the only person in the last two years of MCI from the West, to crack the top three. She was smart and quite impressive and would, like the other two finalists, have made a great MCI.

Winner
Miss Ontario

Mireille was tall and very beautiful. She was first runner-up at MCI 1998 where she was the crowd favorite. Mireille is very beautiful and tall and answered her questions very well. She was great onstage and it will be interesting to see how she is at Miss World.
