About Myself

My name is Marlene Rachael DiLeta. I was born April 18, 1953 in Nipawin, Saskatchewan, Canada. My Parents are Sigismond Franscis (Frank)ROMMEL and Barbara NEUFELD. I am the first living child.

I graduated in 1971 from Nipawin L P Miller High School. I moved to the Province of British Columbia where I still live today.

After my Dad died, I began to think about our History and where did it originate. No one talked about the Old Country or mentioned any names that anyone can recall. My curiosity started getting the better of me. It seemed so secretive. This is what caused me to start searching to see if I could find out something.

I am a member of the American Historical Society of Germans from Russia. I also belong to the British Columbia, Victoria Chapter and I Subscribe to the Hussenbach Review by Paul Lais. I would like to think of all the people I have talked to as relatives, like some of us say, we are probably all related somehow, we just have to figure out how.

Since I haven’t had any luck so far in Russia trying to find out who our Ancestors were or what happened to them, I decided to get started with my relatives here in Canada.

As you will notice, our Family Charts are missing names, dates, etc. I hope that eventually the Charts will all be completed. We need participation !!

I am putting out this Webpage to share with everyone and maybe someone out there will be able to give us some answers, and our family descendants will grow beyond Canada. One day I hope to put our History in a Book.

I encourage other people who had ancestors from the Volga Region to feel free to submit any information that might be of some interest to share. This includes the people that were deported to Siberia and Kashachstan.

I’d like to give credit to Rev. Reinhold and Richard PROPP who without them, I would not have found out the information that I was able to get. Thank you Reinhold and Richard for showing me the way. Richard Propp on his Proud Tractor.

Hope you enjoy!! Let me know.
