Napoleonic Warfare - Gaming
Wargames are an immensely popular pastime for many thousands of people, and NO, they aren't all men! The most popular historic period amongst wargamers has got to be the Napoleonic Wars. This period gives gamers the opportunity to stage some truly magnificent battles, with huge armies dressed in the most colourful and varied uniforms ever seen in warfare!
There are a host of wargaming clubs throughout the world, each with their own preferred set of rules for wargaming, and the Napoleonic Wars must have the widest range of rule sets available. Due to my disability, I am not actually able to participate in games (I can't reach across the table far enough!) so I am unable to pass comment on these rules. Most rule sets are available from vendors of the models used in wargaming, but you can find some rules available for download from the Web! I would strongly recommend, however, that newcomers contact other local gamers to discover what rule set they use. If you're starting up your own group/club, then you are free to select the rules you like the best!
There are certain basic things the newcomer MUST consider:
This is a list of the many battles of the Napoleonic Wars, as a consequence of which the face of Europe was forever changed.
