This was in the KidNews section. The newspaper apparently dissed Howie by saying their roadies get more screams than Howie does in concerts. One girl wrote in to complain: " I really was enjoying your article on the Backstreet Boys until I read the section on "the biggest scream-getter." That's when I realized how rude you were being by saying the roadies checking the equipment before the show got more screams than Howie D. I know he may not be the cutest Backstreet Boy, but he is a very talented musician, and he should at least get credit for that.I hope that in the future, you will notice true talent when you see it." The paper responded by saying, "Hey, E.O. and other readers who knocked us for the Howie D. comment -- we weren't saying we liked the fact that Howie didn't get tons of applause (in fact, one female on staff has it bad for the guy); we were just reporting what we observed. That's our job. (Pssst: When we told reporter Maureen Ryan about the stir her comment caused, she said: "Whew! I wonder what would have happened if I'd left in my comment that Nick looked like he was getting chunky?!" Eww...they practically dissed Nick now.
