Backstreet Boys Retreat to Tropical Island for New Album

Backstreet Boys will retreat to a tropical island to begin work on their next album, the follow-up to 1998's Millennium. The lads are under pressure reclaim their spot atop the boy band ladder after 'N Sync snatched it away with phenomenal sales of their recent release No Strings Attached.
The boys will know the meaning of being lonely when they leave the distractions of the big city behind to write material on the island, in the hope of breaking 'N Sync's record for most albums sold in a week - 2.4 million - which BSB had previously held.
BSB Howie Dorough explains the unusual location, remaining realistic about the attempt. 'I can't give the name of the island yet, but we're going to go to an island and we're going to record - the five of us - some new songs, hopefully for the next album,' he said. 'We're either going to have a good time and write great songs, or we're going to kill each other. Hopefully the first.'
The follow-up to the multi-platinum Millennium marks the Backstreet Boys' first attempt at writing material as a fivesome. 'We are going to get together just to see what we come up with,' Howie said. 'We hope at least to write and record at least at the end of the day.'
Although each of the Boys have penned songs on their own, only Brian and Kevin have songwriting credits on the current album. They plan to complete the album by September for release by the end of the year.
