Backstreet Boys "Play Games" In New York

Geez, we thought it was never gonna happen! Backstreet Boys finally have an album out on U.S. turf, after many, many months of promising that their debut CD for States would be released. It happened back in August, and the launch was a big to-do. Naturally, TEEN BEAT was on the scene so we could tell you all about it. Here goes...

The Press Conference

TEEN BEAT's editors have met the Backstreet Boys a bunch of times, and so of course we wanted to be there when Nick, Howie, Brian, Kevin and A.J. "unveiled" their album for their American fans. The first part of the event, the press conference, took place in New York City at the Official All Star Cafe. It was hosted by the New York radio station Z-100. With tons of press people and some fans watching, the Boys took their place in the front of the room and answered questions from the crowd. Basically, their message that day was that they were just thrilled to finally be bringing their music back home, after achieving phenomenal worldwide success.

Sing It, Boys!

After talking with the media, the quintet made their way next door to the Virgin Mega Store to get ready for a live performance. The space was kind of tight (there was just a mini stage) but the hordes of fans who showed up to go gaga didn't mind the cramped quarters! The Boys performed Quit Playing Games (With My Heart) and Everybody (Backstreet's Back). These guys know how to bust a move! It was pretty exciting being on-the-spot for such a momentous occasion, and now we all have to support the Boys so that they'll be around for a long time to come!
