Howie was on our local radio station for a disappointingly short amount of time on Z104 which airs in Washington DC today during the Top 20 with Sean Cellars. The guys are in Canada, and they were prepping for a concert tonight. Here's a portion of what Howie said.

Howie: Hey, Sean, how ya doin'?

S.C: Wassup, Howie D!

Howie: (chuckling) Not much, man, how ya doin'?

S.C: Well I'm great man, you know we met, people tell you this all the time, I know, but you and I went to a Japanese steakhouse at Virginia Beach and you guys played at a mall there in front of like, a hundred people.

Howie: Yeah, I totally remember that!

S.C: You do not! You and I sat together at lunch, me and you and uh, Kevin.

Howie: Yeah, that's right!

S.C: Yeah, it was at a Kioto Japanese steakhouse.

Howie: Yes, I totally remember that.

S.C: Well, dude, I mean, you played in front of like, a hundred people at the mall that day, (Howie laughs) and now look!

Howie: Oh, I know. Unbelievable, huh?

S.C: Is that the one word for it?

Howie: You never know where life will lead ya, that's all I gotta say.

S.C: And you know, when we split that day, when I left and you guys left in your U-Haul truck (Howie cracks up), I was like, 'Man, I hope they do well, they are the nicest bunch of guys,' and now look at you!

Howie: I know, it's been good, man it's definitely. . . we've been blessed, definitely.

S.C: Is this the best time of your life?

Howie: Oh, the best like I said, these are the best years of my life that I will, you know, cherish forever to be able to tell my grandkids and everything from here on.

S.C: Oh, they'll know! (Howie laughs) They'll know! You guys'll be doing the reunion tour-

Howie: Backstreet who, who were they grandpa?

S.C: (laughing) The box set will be out and there'll be three made for T.V. movies by then!

Howie: (at this point laughing really hard for some odd reason) Right! Like the "Five Heartbeats!"

S.C: Right, exactly! No it's just so, it's so exciting, man, and I tell that story a thousand times and it's so great to be seeing you guys doing this and just, really just taking the whole world over, I mean, I read what Kevin said about the Make a Wish Foundation and the girl coming in dressed as a princess because she felt like you guys were princes-

Howie: Oh, I know, it's so cute.

S.C: You get that everywhere you go, how do you deal with that, how do you keep your head on straight?

Howie: You know what? It's just things like that like you know, like bringing happiness to kids you know what I mean, and they may be terminally ill or you know ,there's out in the audience, seeing people that are just singing you know, all the words to our music and saying that our music has changed their lives, those kinds of things like that is what keeps you going man, it keeps you you know, all the craziness it brings (and by this point Howie is just rambling some un-understandable languange) It's just you know, the rewards are very cherishing.

S.C: Well I mean like, you know we've seen it happen when we see the guys and it just goes to their head and it all falls apart, do you guys keep each other in check or-

Howie: Oh, yeah, definitely we're always constantly keeping each others feet down on the ground -

S.C: Right, it's like, alright, alright AJ! That's enough of that!

Howie: Yeah, we all have our families out with us on the road here and there so they keep us in check as well.

S.C: So what about the ladies, who's the ladies man?

Howie: Ohhh, we all have our moments! Here and there (laughs)

S.C: Cause I hear it's you!

Howie: Oh, you do!

S.C: Yeah, that's right.

Howie: Ah, it's all rumors, all rumors.

S.C: That's gotta be another touchy subject, man. (Howie snickers) You have no time!

Howie: Exactly. Unfortunately, there's not enough time for anything serious, but uh, it's good, our first love is our music right now. It's all come in good time.

S.C: Yeah, that's great. And you can tell to man, I mean, the Millennium album, Larger Than Life, huge they call it your grown up album, do you take offense to that?

Howie: Well, that's interesting, we're constantly trying to have our music grow as we are actually, and as our fans are growing you have to like Madonna and everyone that's out there , you constantly have to be re-re. .revit-ugh.

S.C: Re-invent?

Howie: RE-INVENT yourself, (chuckles) that's the word, I'm getting hooked on phonics here. But constantly try to come up with a little more of an edge in the album, you know, just keep the audience like, "wow, that doesn't sound like the last album, it's something different and I like it actually."

It kind of ends after that, they just talk about how "I Want It That Way" was a great bridge from the first album to Millennium, and how BSB's really didn't want to release it 'cause they thought it sounded too much like their previous songs. It was a really cute interview, and Howie sounded damn sexy for most of the thing except when he'd start senselessly rambling and mumbling to himself and everyone would be like, "What'd he say?!?" so it was so cute! Except it only lasted like ten minutes.
