Two Zo lovers are fleeing the wrath of Morbius. The woman is pregnant, and overdue, slowing their group substantially. The group leader threatens to throw out the couple. They leave their group of warriors and go into hiding for the woman to give berth. She delivers a boy. They continue on, in the shadows slowly, stealing, hiding. After two weeks of slow movement, slowed even more by the infant, they come to an agreement to abandon the baby. It is left in a hut they think is deserted. They continue on, and eventually die. The infant is alone, and little over two weeks old. Five days after his parent's deaths, which he will never know about until he is much older, a young gray Sylvan girl named Nolei discovers him in her family's old home. The infant was lucky to survive without nutrition for that long. He is taken in. The Sylvan family knows nothing of Zos, not even their existence. They are puzzled with the child. They give him a name, Lei'ish, which means "one of disqusting peace". - - - The child grows into adolescence. He is envied, loathed, loved, and idolized by his Sylvan peers. He soon is given the nickname, "Ton'lei," which means, "Peace talker," because of the speed of which he picks up languages. Soon he knows more than High Sylvan; he can understand bits and pieces of the Human language. - - - He reaches maturity. He leaves his family for the cities of the Ascendancy. In the cities he meets another Zo. He becomes confused when the Zo speaks to him in the language of the Zos. The Zo notices this and speaks in the language of Humans. The Zo's name is Holitnimo. Holitnimo becomes Ton'lei's mentor. They learn much of each other. - - - Ton'lei makes a home in the capitol city. He enjoys himself. Soon, his knowledge of other languages becomes noted by Morbius's forces. He is exiled for apparently no reason. - - - In Puddleby he sees a large Sylvan clan. He is immediately attracted and becomes a hopeful. Tonle is currently a Bard, Fighter, and a proud member of E'las Loth'mon Ferindril. |
