Chapter 12

When we finished laughing a shorter, dark haired man came up to the table.
“Hey Howie.” Brian said to him. “Where’s bone?”
“Oh, he is out in the car trying to decide which pair of sunglasses looks better.” Howie said and I heard Nick and Kevin chuckle.
“Howie, I would like you to meet Cindy.” Brian said introducing me.
“It’s so good to meet you.” Howie said shaking my hand, then he sat down.
“Did you find you wallet?” Brian asked Howie.
“Yes I did. Someone misplaced it in the kitchen underneath the ding-dong box.” Howie replied looking over at Nick.
Nick put his arms up. “I swear it was not me!”
Howie smiled and looked over at me. “That is what he says every time.”
I laughed. Brian’s friends were nice. They acted like they were brothers. You could feel so relaxed around them. I can’t believe only minutes ago I was nervous meeting them.
The waiter came up to our table and asked us if we wanted appetizers first.
“Should we wait for Bone?” asked Kevin.
“I haven’t even looked at the menu yet.” Howie said. “Could you give us a few more minutes?” he asked the waiter.
“Sure sir”. The waiter said in an French accent, then left.
I looked at the menu. The prices were extremely high and I had trouble at deciding on what I wanted.
When the waiter came back I finally decided on a small French dish. The others ordered easily as if they didn’t care about the price and had been here a million times. ‘Who would go here unless it was a special occasion?’ I asked myself ‘It is way too expensive to go here all the time. Why wasn’t price such a huge deal?’ When we finished ordering, the waiter took away our menus.
I looked over at Brian while everyone was talking. He looked over at me then I smiled at him to show that I was relaxed and having fun. He took my hand and we held hands underneath the table. I breathed in deeply. I was happy being with him and his friends.
I talked to Nick about his likes and dislikes. It seems that he really likes playing Nintendo and can beat anyone he knows at it. He has been playing since he was real little. “The one thing I never had was one of the original Nintendos. I wanted one real bad, so I looked into the news paper and this boy was selling his system and all his games for this really cheap price. I got such a good deal.” Nick was explaining. I talked to the rest of the guys as we waited for the last friend to show up.
“Hey, here’s Bone now.” Nick said looking up. I quickly turned around and was confronted by AJ. The same AJ that smashed into my car just a couple months ago. I sat their stunned and realized that maybe this wan’t going to be the greatest night alive.
