Monadot
Macavity looked around from his perch high up on top of an apartment complex. “Monadot. Let’s go.” He said firmly. A large male cat, who looked like Rumpleteazer, walked behind Macavity. “Where are we going?” he asked. “To the junkyard. When we get there you must take your sister hostage.” “Which one?” “Choose. Then slit her throat.” “But…” “There are no buts in this kind of business.” Macavity yelled at him. Monadot looked at the ground. “I can’t do it. I can’t. I won’t be able to bring myself to do it.” “You must. You are like a son to me. My first son, Pouncival, disappointed me. He didn’t have the qualities of a leader. But you do.” Monadot looked Macavity in the eye. “What about your brothers?” “I’ll kill them easily.” Monadot then jumped off the building and landed in a stack of cloths on a nearby cart. Macavity levitated down to where Monadot stood. “Come…” He motioned Monadot to follow.
“Hey Misto! Back already?...Are you ok?” The questions Pacifica asked were simple. “Macavaty is coming.” The words Pacifica feared most came out of her best friends mouth. She hung her head. Macavaty was Pouncival’s father. He had killed her mother, father and turned her little brother bad. She climbed up on a box, “Everyone I have something to tell you…Macavity’s coming.” With that Mungo pulled Pacifica behind him and Rumpleteazer. Pouncival ran over to Pacifica. He looked at her with a worried look on his face and then looked down in shame. Pacifica rubbed her head against his to tell him it was alright. Then a bright light shone and Macavaty appeared. The whole night came back to Pacifica…the last time she saw her parents. Then some thing took her away. Not Mungo or any of the other cats. It was…Banando. He changed his name to Monadot. He gave her to Macavity. Monadot put his claw to Alonzo and Munkustrap’s throat. A bunch of evil cats held Munkustrap, Alonzo, and Misto. Then Macavity looked at Monadot with a sparkle in his eye. Macavity let out a laugh to signal the execution. Monadot ran over to Macavity, who dropped Pacifica, “I am sorry Pacifica…this is for mom and dad.” Monadot said and with that slit Macavity’s throat. With Macavity’s dying action was to strike Monadot in the throat. In seconds there were five cats on the ground, Pacifica, (in a bad state of shock) Munkustrap, (with one or two scratches) Alonzo, (with a not-so-bad cut on his back) Monadot, (dead) and Macavity (dead). Pacifica reached up to feel her throat. Blood. Teaze, Misto, & Pounce ran over to her. Blacknight, Mungo, and Jenny ran over to Alonzo. Demeter, Electra, and Jemima ran over to Munkustrap. Pacifica sat there, looking at Teaze. “’re you ‘k sis?” Teaze said. Pacifica nodded. Then that night when she was all alone she fell over. She was dying. She saw a small salamander. Hello my little friend, she thought. A gift, he whispered, this is a gift for you. Light shone around her. Then died down to a dim steady glow. Life. The small animal said. Then he disappeared in to a light that connected to the one around Pacifica. “Misto.” she said quietly. Misto sat up in his bed at the junkyard.
He was breaking out in a heavy sweat. Pacifica was calling him. He ran to her bed and found her sitting crossed legged on nothing. Only a bright light under her. She turned and looked at Misto. “Come. Sit.” She said patting air beside her. She’s lost it this time for sure. He did as she told and found himself floating on the same pad of light. She took his paws in hers and looked deep into his eyes. “I know. But I haven’t lost it yet.” She said. “What are we floating on?” Misto asked. “Life.” She whispered. Misto sighed, “What do we do now?” “Think of something you want to see. Anything.” Misto thought. He opened his eyes and there was the Titanic. In front of him. Pacifica opened her eyes and smiled. “I wish we could warn them.” Misto said. Then they closed and opened their eyes again and there she was in front of them sinking. Misto looked down at the water which they were floating above. “Let’s go. Where do you want to go?” he asked Pacifica. They opened and closed their eyes again and they were watching a plane spiraling down. Pacifica let go of one of his paws and put it over her mouth. Misto looked at her and pulled her close to him. She buried her face in Misto’s fur until it was over. Then she walked over to three small kittens playing. She smiled briefly then went over to Misto. “I love you.” She said looking at the two frustrated parents. Turning to Misto she said, “Let’s go.” They took each others paws and were back in the junkyard when they both opened their eyes. Misto gave Pacifica a hug. “We have been through so much together. I feel like we are brother and sister.” Misto said. “I feel the same way.” Pacifica replied. They curled up together and went to sleep. Next morning Pacifica walked out to her brothers grave with Misto. Everyone’s grave had a saying on it. on his was the only thing anyone besides Pacifica and Teaze had heard him say,… “I am sorry Pacifica…This is for mom and dad.” Pacifica pushed some seeds in to the ground. One on each side. Then Misto use a little magic and two long vines popped up out of the ground. At the top of the gravestone the vines met. They curled together and two purple, white, and blue flowers appeared in the very center. “Perfect like Momma would want it…Goodbye Monadot.” Pacifica whispered. Then the two friends left together.
