Allison was at the Great Big Picnic in Summerside, PEI this past summer and now there's no holding her back! She's actually been a fan for a few years (the first BR song she heard was 'Try') but after seeing Blue Rodeo in concert, she became even more enthusiastic about their music ... and the band itself. Not only does she love the band's overall sound ('Hasn't Hit Me Yet' was her favourite performance at the Picnic), she says she's continually amazed at the song writing talents of the Cuddy/Keelor team. She thinks the lyrics they pour out are out of this world. And Al knows what she's talking about. She loves to read and write ... even dabble in poetry. She admits she's no Robert Frost though. Oh well.
If Allison managed to convince the band to let her be a part of them, she'd take over James' job on the keyboards. She's played classical piano for years (with many lessons under her belt) and says she'd love to learn a new genre such as blues or jazz. Who better to learn with than Blue Rodeo? But what if Alli had to choose someone other than herself to join the guys up on stage? Hands down she’d pick Anne Lindsay. Anytime Allison’s been to a Jim Cuddy Band show she’s been amazed at Anne’s talents … and her favourite songs on Just Like A Vacation are those which feature the fiddle.
Allison would be love to hear Blue Rodeo do some covers of Byrds songs … especially from the album Sweetheart Of The Rodeo. And she could really hear Greg doing some Tom Petty songs! Not only does she have visions for future cover tunes but Allison has an idea for a video. She would love to see the band bring ‘Photograph’ to life. And of course she wouldn’t mind starring in it. She’d be the girl with the camera on her arm … and she’d take Jim’s clothes away at the end of the video ;)
Allison is originally from Moncton, New Brunswick but lives in Quebec where she’s aiming for a master's degree in comparative literature at Sherbrooke University. She'll also be aiming to attend more Blue Rodeo shows ... in between her studies, of course! Her other favourite band, the Beatles, may not be touring anymore, but you can bet she'll be listening to their CDs a lot. In fact, she'll be content if she's listening to music, period. She likes classical rock, blues, even country. She's not fussy, just so long as you don't make her listen to rap or dance.
