A BASH Review from Minttu

On August 2nd my friends and I headed up to Hartwall Arena in Helsinki. What we were going to do in the arena? We were going to go see the most charming and talented boy group of the late 90's, THE BACKSTREET BOYS!!! This concert was the event of the summer! We got to the arena about an hour before getting in. The warm up band, Nylon Beat (2 Finnish gals, pretty popular in Finland and Japan) began playing at 8pm. The boys could have gotten a better warm up band! Nylon Beat kept me cold and I'm pretty sure I wasn't the only one. The boys stept on the stage at 9pm. Their opening performance was very modern and well practiced and as was the whole show. And what about the boys? Just as handsome as in all the posters and pictures. Meaning, THEY WERE VERY HOT!!
The audience could see that The Backstreet boys were very excited and maybe just a little nervous to perform infront of a complitely new audience. But that just made the show more interesting and filled the arena with electricity. The boys sang songs from all their 3 albums and charmed the audience 100%!! The highlight to the Finnish fans was probably the second encore when Brian stepped to the stage wearing a hockey jersey of a local hockey team JOKERIT. The concert was a great experience and I will surely go see them another time if they ever end up playing in this cold country of mine again:) They stole my heart! But there's one minus I'll have to give them and that is that I would have needed more contact with the audience...Well, Let's wait and see how it goes in Stockholm, Sweden where they end their Millenium tour in Europe.

The Boys did two concerts in Helsinki as you probably know:) They stayed at the Kämp hotel, which is the most expensive hotel in the entire country. They stayed here for 3 days (Mon, Tue, Wed) and flew to Stockholm on Thursday. On their day off, Wednesday, AJ and Howie were playing golf at a local course and the others were said to be wondering around Helsinki sightseing.
