Mostly I hunt whitetails but have pursued mule deer occasionally. While the whitetails inhabit mainly the valley bottoms and lower mountain slopes, really good mulies live high in the mountains and require quite a commitment of time for consistent success. This is my best, netting 172 2/8 typical points.

1988
Beginning this year, I hit a fabulous area that yielded nice bucks for five of the next six years. The scenario was usually the same - a number of does were established in an area of good feed and the bucks came to visit around mid November. Depending on wind direction, I occupied the best of three different stands and never had to make too many visits to connect.

This is a really wide whitey whose downfall was lust!

Basic 5-point with a split brow tine. This guy also came to visit the ladies just at dawn but I got there first. His antlers sweep out nicely over his nose and he scores just shy of 150.
